With the vast majority of the leading pack otherwise engaged with FA Vase duties, this Saturday is an ideal opportunity for the rest to make some ground.

Opportunity knocks for Prestwich Heys.

A win at St Helens Town will give them the opportunity to tap on Silsden and Litherland’s shoulders, and move within three points of that famed 100% record held by The Cobbydalers.

St Helens will be aiming to deliver an “after the Lord Mayor’s Parade” effect on Prestwich (8-0 winners in midweek) and thus register their first league win in their new home.

It's safe to say that Oswestry Town will have wished for a better start to their 2017-18 campaign. Without a single point to their name they travel to Cheadle Town in the hope of getting themselves up-and-running.

They will hope that they can capitalise on Cheadle’s rather patchy form thus far. Oswestry won 4-1 at Park Road last season; they’d settle for a fraction of that scoreline this weekend!

After an indifferent start, Cammell Laird have really clicked into gear of late. A creditable 2-2 draw at home to Whitchurch Alport was followed by two 5-1 wins on the bounce so they will travel to AFC Blackpool full of confidence.

New Mills will be licking their wounds after a severe midweek mauling. Up to that point they had made a solid start, and will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record at Church Lane against an Atherton LR side that have suffered three defeats on the bounce.

Speaking of heavy defeats, Daisy Hill - on the wrong end of that 0-8 reversal against Prestwich Heys - make the trip up the M6 to Holker Old Boys who have started to show signs of recovery.

Their first league victory at home to Nelson was supplemented by a victory over near-neighbours Carlisle City in midweek.

Last but not least, the other end of the M6 sees two Staffordshire stablemates lock horns.

Abbey Hulton United - not the most prolific of goalscorers of late, but possessing a half-decent away form - travel to Eccleshall who have conceded more goals than they wish to care for over the past couple of matches.

Whichever match you are at, enjoy your weekend.
