Squires Gate's long serving groundsman Brian Addison has once again been recognised for his outstanding work at the club.

Brian, who has been involved in looking after the pitch at the eponymously named Brian Addison Stadium for over 50 years, has won the 2017 FA Groundsman of the Year award in the Hallmark Security League.

Runner-up was Paul Minshull (Congleton Town), and David Rhodes (Eccleshall) was placed third.

Brian also came runner-up in the overall FA national award in the Step 5 – 6 Leagues category.

The judging of the awards is based on a number of different categories, including resources available, effective use of manpower and material resources, maintenance, and use of machinery.

Brian spent the day at St George's Park at the end of August, as an invited guest at a reception to recognise all the award winners.

League Secretary John Deal presented Brian with his league award prior to Gate's game with Widnes last weekend.
