The weather took its toll for the first time this season on the scheduled weekend fixtures, with 13 games surviving the inclement weather that struck in the latter part of the week.

The two ties that paired NWCFL sides against one another in the Buildbase FA Vase 2nd Round survived the weather and produced away wins in both cases.

After a goalless first half at the St Lukes Barton Stadium, two goals from Jordan Cover and one from Ben Hardcastle earned Atherton Collieries a 3-0 win over 1874 Northwich at the Barton Stadium.

Meanwhile at the YESSS Electrical Arena, goals in each half from Steve Jones and Carl Peers saw Bootle emerge with a 2-0 win over Padiham.

In the Premier Division, Runcorn Town extended their lead at the top of the table in convincing style with an 8-0 win over bottom of the league Cammell Laird 1907 at the Pavilions. Leading scorer Craig Cairns was, inevitably, on the scoresheet once again, scoring four times against his old club.

The other three Premier Division games all ended in draws, and the fans certainly got their money’s worth from the game at the Royal British Legion Stadium, where Squires Gate and Hanley Town shared a 4-4 draw.

Two goals from Angelo Errico helped Town to a 3-2 lead at half time, which was extended to 4-2 by Jonathan Higham with 20 minutes to go. But goals in the last 12 minutes from Ric Seear and Ryan Tanser salvaged a point for Gate.

AFC Liverpool were two goals down after 13 minutes at West Didsbury & Chorlton, but Emini Adegbenro pulled one back on 57 minutes and Freddy Champion rescued a point with an 89th minute equaliser to tie the side at 2-2.

Barnton earned a valuable point in the battle to beat the drop with a goalless draw at home to Congleton Town.

In the First Division, City of Liverpool narrowed the gap between themselves and top of the table Whitchurch Alport to one point with a 2-1 win at Eccleshall, thanks to first half goals from Matthew Williams and Aaron Rey.

Alsager Town are just three points behind the Purples, having moved in to fourth place with a 2-0 home win over Carlisle City, Joshua Bowden and Michael Lennon on target for the Bullets.

Litherland REMYCA and Sandbach United occupy fifth and sixth place after they drew 1-1 on Merseyside. Daniel Bartle put the visitors ahead just after the break but James MvGrane rescued a point for Remy with an equaliser 13 minutes from time.

Widnes continue to narrow the gap between themselves and the play off places with a 3-2 win at Stockport Town, two penalties from Kevin Towey proving decisive.

St Helens Town scored four in a game for the second time in three days, Andy Gillespie scoring twice in the 4-1 win at Silsden, and Chadderton won by the same score at Holker Old Boys, despite going a goal behind in 10 minutes.

Nathan Tosum, Thabiso Magida and Michael Sherrington were on target for Cheadle Town in the 3-0 win over Ashton Town, a result that keeps the visitors rooted to the bottom of the table.
