With four Premier Division sides in FA Vase action this weekend, there are only eight Premier Division fixtures top choose from. But fear not, as this weekend sees some more mouth-watering action to add to what’s already turning out to a fascinating season. And Saturdays results will no doubt result in more moves and shakes, at both the top, and bottom, of the league table.

So, to kick off this weekend’s preview, its top v bottom at Pavilions as Runcorn Town welcome Cammel Laird 1907. Chris Herbert’s side will have the chance to extend their lead at the summit with three of the top five sides in the table in FA Vase action.  Herbert’s side come into the game on the back of a four match winning run with their latest being a comprehensive 6-1 away win at Squires Gate. Lairds meanwhile, are in total contrast to Town and sit bottom of the table on just six points, but will take heart from last weekend’s draw against Barnoldswick Town.

Fourth place Runcorn Linnets head to Brocstedes Park to take on Ashton Athletic - with Michael Ellison’s side no doubt looking for revenge - after Ashton knocked his side out of the Macron Challenge Cup. The Yellows staged a stunning comeback to come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.  Linnets are currently three games unbeaten in the league and know a win will see them head into second place in the league table. While Ashton will also be looking to continue their impressive form. The Yellows have lost just once in their last six games, with their latest victory being a 5-2 away win at West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Another side who are in impressive form at the moment is Barnton, who welcome Congleton Town to The Hinchliffe Holmes Stadium. Steve Lloyd’s side have won their last three, which has seen them climb out of the bottom three and up to 18th in the league table. Congleton on the other hand, come into the game on the back of three straight defeats and currently find themselves lying in 14th.

AFC Liverpool make the trip to Manchester on Saturday to take on West Didsbury & Chorlton.  The Reds arrive at The Recreation Ground looking to get back to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat at Barnton in their last outing, while Steve Settle’s side will also be looking to get back to winning ways after a 5-2 defeat at home to Ashton last weekend. These two sides have already met season with West winning an FA Cup replay back in August by a goal to nil - after the first game had finished goalless.

One place below West Didsbury are Hanley Town who make the trip to Blackpool to take on Squires Gate. Both sides will be looking to respond after being on the end of comprehensive defeats last weekend. Town were on the wrong end of a 7-1 demolition at home to Bootle – while Gate were on the end of a 6-1 hammering at home to Runcorn Town.

Gate’s defeat was their latest in a poor run of form which has seen them slip to 17th in the league table. While after a bright start to life in the Premier Division, Hanley have also suffered a slip in form with their last league win coming against Winsford United on October 18th.

Talking of Winsford United, they make the trip to Derbyshire to take on New Mills. Lee Duckworth’s side come into the game after back to back defeats losing 4-2 away at Padiham last Saturday – before being beaten 3-2 against Cheshire rivals Barnton on Monday.

The Millers have found life tough going since returning the Hallmark Security League and come into this game without a win in their last seven matches and currently find themselves inside the relegation zone.

One place below New Mills is Nelson who welcome Irlam to Little Wembley. The Admirals know it’s vital that start to pick up points if they are to survive in the division and come into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat at Runcorn Linnets.  Prior to the Linnets defeat though, the Blues had gone three games unbeaten, while Steve Nixon’s side currently find themselves in eleventh and will be looking to end a two-game losing run which has seen them beaten by both AFC Liverpool and 1874 Northwich in tight affairs.

Finally, to wrap up this weekend’s preview, Barnoldswick Town welcome Abbey Hey to the Silent Night Stadium.  Stewart Airdrie’s side come into the game on the back a 4-0 defeat against Harrogate Town in midweek in the West Riding County Cup. Prior to their County Cup defeat, Town had been on a three match unbeaten run, which saw them collect draws against Cammel Lairds and AFC Darwen as well as a victory against Lairds in the Macron Challenge Cup.

Luke Gibson’s side currently find themselves in tenth and will be looking to end their own two match losing run. Hey were beaten by Atherton Collieries in the last outing – before that they were on the wrong end of a nine goal thriller against Padiham.

So, with plenty of action to choose from and no Premier League or Championship football this weekend there really isn’t no reason for you not be supporting your local side this weekend.
