1874 Northwich have received an award from the Cheshire FA for their use of social media.

The club were presented with the award last week at the Cheshire FA Awards ceremony, which was held at the prestigious Carden Park Hotel near Chester.

The club won the award in the category of Social Media and Technology, which rewards clubs that have shown innovation in the use of new technology and social media in the promotion of the on and off field activities of the football club.

Club representative Steve Richardson said: “1874’s nomination highlighted the club's use of social media such as Twitter, Facebook and the prominent use of an active club website, including the excellent 1874TV, to provide accurate and entertaining information regarding the club's activities.

“Nominated in a category of 3 alongside Egerton FC and Runcorn Linnets JFC, all three clubs had shown an excellent appreciation of the use of new technology in the promotion of their team.

“The club would like to put on record their appreciation and thanks to all the volunteers who have contributed towards this award”.
