Bootle have accepted the resignation of Reserve Manager John Callaghan and Assistant Tony Ellis.

The pair made the step up from Bootle U18s after winning the youth double in the West Cheshire Youth league and this season they built on the success of winning the (Division 3 League Shield) Cup the previous season, and guided their young squad to the West Cheshire League Division 3 championship and promotion to Division 2.

Bootle Manager Joe Doran said: " I would like to thank John and Tony for all their hard work and the success they have brought to the club.

“I am so sorry that they have resigned but I understand their decision, I would like to say what a privilege it has been to become friends and work with them. I hope to keep a professional and personal relationship with both".

John Callaghan added: " Tony and I would like to thank everyone for welcoming us into the ‘Bootle Family', from Day 1 we felt at home.

"It was a privilege to have met and worked with great people at a great club that we now consider as friends. Most of all a big thank you to all of the players. Without them success cannot be achieved and we hope that we leave the club in a good position with good young talent available".

The club are now looking for a new Reserve team manager.

The position requires an enthusiastic Manager who is willing to participate in the club’s vision of promoting local young talented players from across Merseyside to first team football.

Some costs are covered by the club including League fees, Pitch fees, Kit and Training costs.

The successful applicant with work closely with the first team manager.
