With eleven Premier Division clubs involved in FA Vase First Round ties this weekend there is a reduced programme of Premier Division fixtures, giving 4th placed AFC Liverpool and 5th placed Ashton Athletic the opportunity to close the gap on the leading teams in the division, as all of the top three are otherwise engaged.

The division’s top goal scorer Ryan Cox will be looking to add to his tally of 20 goals when AFC Liverpool welcomes struggling Barnoldswick Town to the Arriva Stadium.

Despite occupying 21st place in the table Barnoldswick Town, who have not won in their last eight games, will be hoping to at least match the 1-1 draw they played out with AFC Liverpool at their Silentnight Beds Stadium in August.

Unbeaten in their last five away games, Ashton Athletic, level on points with AFC Liverpool, visit bottom club Bacup & Rossendale Borough who haven’t tasted victory in their last 19 outings dating back to 9th August and their only win of the season so far.

AFC Blackpool will be trying to take all three points off Alsager Town on their visit to Wood Park and move out of the relegation zone.  The Seasiders have failed to pick up a single point on their travels so far this season and lost 4-1 at home in early October to Alsager Town, who have lost their last three league games.

One place and three points above AFC Blackpool in the table are Stockport Sports who visit AFC Blackpool’s near neighbours Squires Gate, who are unbeaten in their last three games at The Royal British Legion Stadium. With the worst defensive record in the division, having conceded 55 goals, Stockport Sports have lost 6-1 on their last two outings.

The division’s final game sees Abbey Hey host Congleton Town at the Abbey Stadium. Despite being 18th in the table Abbey Hey are unbeaten in their last five games, while mid table Congleton Town have lost only once in their last five league games.  The two teams drew 1-1 at Congleton earlier in the season.
