All League Secretaries in Step 5 and Step 6 Leagues have been sent a notice from the FA to circulate to clubs, regarding potential movement of clubs between leagues for the start of next season.

It's an early indication that there may be a need to move clubs into different leagues for season 2014-15, as part of the allocation of clubs to Leagues within the Pyramid system.

The reminder from Mike Appleby, Leagues & Clubs Manager in the FA's Football Services Division, reinforces a decision made at the Steps 5/6 Leagues meeting at Daventry in July, where all Steps 5/6 leagues agreed with the lateral movement of clubs between leagues at the same Step in the National League System, at the end of the current season.

The notice reads:

"This is a reminder that it may be necessary at the end of the current Season to consider the lateral movement of clubs between leagues/divisions at the various Steps within the National League System. We are still unable to be more specific at this stage, this is merely to remind you that this could occur and that your club may be one of the clubs that will be moved.

"We would point out that all Steps 5/6 leagues are in agreement with lateral movement and we would remind you that provision for lateral movement is included in the current Regulations for the Operation of the National League System.

"We will continue to monitor the current league tables and we hope to be in a position to contact specific clubs later in the Season, although we appreciate that the situation could still change due to promotion and relegation matters".
