Following a number of high quality submissions from clubs for the Goalkeeper of the Month for October 2021, we can now confirm the following winners, as co-ordinated by League Awards Officer, Peter Stokes.

In the Premier Division our congratulations go to Morgan Bacon of Wythenshawe Town.  A busy month for Wythenshawe saw Morgan's stats read as Played 8, Clean Sheets 4, Conceded 7.

An excellent submission statement reads "Morgan Bacon came into the side with big boots to fill, following in the footsteps of Callum Jakovlevs. However, he has proved more than up to the task.In the first match of the month, away at Longbridge Town he proved his ability, keeping a clean sheet despite the team being under pressure for long periods. This was followed with a victory at Winsford United where a remarkable last-minute point-blank save denied the hosts a share of the points.

The first big test was at home against Macclesfield and after conceding an early goal he kept the Macclesfield forwards at bay for long periods. Morgan’s prodigious and accurate kicking was keeping the visitors defence on its toes. He managed to deny the forwards twice with point blank saves at the start of the second period.
Morgan wasn’t up to the same pressure against Litherland REMYCA, but he faced a real test in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase when he had a very strong North-East side, Seaham Red Star, in opposition. A superb display by the custodian kept the scoresheet blank and took the teams into a penalty shootout.

After conceding the first spot kick he made two great saves, diving full length to deny the takers, and Wythenshawe Town were through to the next round.
The month was completed with an away win at AFC Liverpool and although it was a fine performance by the team, it was Morgan’s ability between the posts and his accurate distribution that prevented the hosts taking early control".

In Division One North it has been an excellent month for Bacup Borough FC as they are keeping the pressure on at the top of the table, one of the reasons for this has been the form of Henry Turner who wins the October award.

Henry's stats read: Games Played: 4, Man of the Match: 2, Clean Sheets: 2, Conceded: 2

In his nomination statement Bucup tell us... "The Stats say it all, out of four games in the month played he has received two man of the match nominations, had two clean sheets, only conceded two goals and in our last game of the month at Nelson despite the height difference between Henry and the Nelson centre back, Henry did show what a good agile brave keeper he is by constantly coming out and winning the ariel battle with his bravery and excellent timing".

In Division One South, our congratulations go to Peter Monteith of Maine Road.

Peter's numbers read: Games Played: 6, Man of the Match: 0, Clean Sheets: 3, Conceded: 3

Peter has clearly impressed those at the club as their nomination statement reads:  "Pete is having a fine season and has been instrumental in Maine Roads surge in form keeping 3 clean sheets out of 5 league fixtures and only conceding 3 goals in those 5 fixtures, 2 were to 2nd in the league at the time (New Mills). He has pulled off a number of incredible saves to keep the clean sheets and certainly played more than his part in keeping our local neighbours down to one goal last Saturday and would fully deserve to be FDS keeper of the month."

Our Congratulations go to all winners and we are all mobilising to get out and present the respective awards over the coming days.  Again we would like to remind all clubs that there are all sorts of reasons for nominating a Goalkeeper, a good performance isn't necesarily represented by a clean sheet.  Get nominating!
