Sad news from Skelmersdale United with long time Director and Supporter Bob Hadwin recently passing away.

Bob was well known from both the First Team in the NWCFL and further up the pyramid, and also in the Youth sections of the club.

A club statement said "It is with great sadness that we heard that one of the United faithful followers had sadly passed away.

"After watching Skelmersdale United for a number of years Bob Hadwin joined the Board of Directors in 1976, along with Stan West, Harry Bullen and Billy Barr.

"He helped United move from the Lancashire Combination to the North West Counties before stepping down, but not away. He remained a staunch supporter for over 45 years, always there to help out and was involved in the Youth and Academy teams, always willing the lads on from the sidelines.

"From our time at Stormy Corner Bob was roped into doing the Match day announcements, a job he was not comfortable with but soon grew to love the job. Many an afternoon he had us in stiches when trying to pronounce some Eastern European players names! He continued his role whilst we were based in Prescot and again helped out with duties when we returned to Skem.

"Bob was an all round great guy, and will be missed by all those that knew him. Good night Bob."

The league join Skelmersdale United in sending our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
