West Seek New Manager

The club can confirm that David Powell has left his role as Men's manager with immediate effect, with his backroom staff of James Standing and Stuart Humphreys also leaving their roles.

Taking up his position in early December at a point where the club were 9 points adrift from safety, he and his management team we are able to immediately string together a run of five wins in seven games, including a memorable 6-0 boxing day victory over Abbey Hey. Over the course of his tenure, West achieved an impressive record of eight wins, one draw, and nine losses - something which saw the side take our relegation battle to the final day of the season, against the odds.

Following discussions it was felt that a new start was best for both parties, with biweekly travel from David Powell's home in West Lancashire being chief among the reasons why the management team came to the agreement to leave their positions by mutual consent. All at the club would like to thank them for their efforts and energies over the past 6 months, and would like to place on record their gratitude for taking us so close to survival in trying conditions - we wish them all the best for the future.

The club will now be recruiting for a manager for the 2019/20 season as the club begins its campaign in the North West Counties Football League First Division South. A job description can be found below:

West Didsbury and Chorlton FC are seeking applications for the post of men's first team manager.

In order to meet the clubs ambitions, the successful candidate:

  • Will hold as a minimum a level 2 FA coaching qualification or equivalent.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully managing/coaching at Step 6 or above, or can demonstrate the ability to be able to do so.
  • Will be able to manage the first team in a way that delivers success on the field and supports its vision to be a true community club.

To apply for this post, please send a letter outlining why you feel the club should appoint you and how you would plan to ensure the team gains promotion in 2019/20, together with a copy of your footballing C.V. to the Club Chairman at chairman@wdcfc.co.uk - any questions about the role should also be directed to this email address.

Due to the rapidly approaching start of the season, applications will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 2nd June. Due to the volume of interest expected, we may be unable to reply to get back to each applicant individually - those who are to be included in the next stage of the interview process will be contacted on Monday 3rd June, with interviews commencing that same week.
