A Poetic Response To Brent's Christmas Message

It's that time of year when managers make a point of warning players that a professional attitude is expected when it comes to enjoying the festive season.

None are more viligant than Bacup Borough boss Brent Peters when it comes to laying down the law about social activities over the Christmas period, and Brent's festive message to his squad members made such an impact on Borough defender Gareth Wager, it resulted in Gareth being inspired to pen the following words.....

One dark morning, black as night,
I was woken up, so full of fright!
My phone beeped away, what could it be?
A text from Brent Peters just for me.
With trembling hands, I unlocked my phone,
Brent's checking up that the players are at home.
I never texted back, and went back to sleep,
I tossed and I turned, I tried to count sheep.
I tried and I tried, but something wasn't right,
I felt really weird, and so full of fright.
As I opened my eyes, what did I see?
Brent stood in the corner staring at me.
"What are you doing here?", I said with such fear.
"Just checking you're sleeping and not out on the beer!!!"
