The NWCFL groundskeepers have been busy over the last few weeks (and months!), battling the torrential weather, and this midweek matchday - they won (almost a clean sweep!)!

The action kicked off on Monday evening, with all three games going ahead. In the NWCFL First Division South, Wythenshawe Town crept passed Stockport Town, defeating Adam Jones' 2-1 with 131 watching on.

Elsewhere, in the Macron Cup 3rd Round, Maine Road booked a place in the next round as they beat Garstang 2-0 - Owen Pollitt with a goal in each half.

Whilst in the West Riding County Cup, National League side Harrogate Town were too strong for Barnoldswick Town - who exited the competition losing 3-1 in a valiant effort by Endrit Shehu's side.

On Tuesday, there was a healthy programme of fixtures. Three NWCFL top-flight fixtures saw league leaders 1874 Northwich stretched their lead at the summit to six points over Charnock Richard. Whilst, Rylands crept up to sixth in the standings following their 3-1 away win at Padiham, and in the other game a hat-trick from James Boyd guided Squires Gate to a 3-1 win against Winsford United.

In the NWCFL First Division North, Ashton Town swept aside Shelley 5-0, whilst Chadderton and Daisy Hill thrashed out a 1-1 draw at Andrew Street.

Vauxhall Motors increased their lead at the top of the NWCFL First Division South with their goalless draw against fifth-placed Eccleshall, meanwhile, West Disbury & Chorlton came from behind against Wythenshawe Amateurs - winning 2-1, whilst Abbey Hey won 3-0 against struggling Alsager Town.

Wednesday evening saw four matches in four different competitions. In the NWCFL Premier Division, Longridge Town had the chance to go second, but their game against Burscough was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Stone Old Alleynians travelled back from Cheadle Town having collected all three points in a 2-1 away win n the First Division South.

In the Derbyshire Senior Cup, New Mills faced Derby County U23's and they had one of their great nights, coming from behind to defeat The Rams 2-1.

Sandbach United were knocked out of the Commander Ethelstone Charity Cup, losing 5-4 on penalties to Whitchurch Alport after drawing 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Whilst in the Liverpool Senior Cup Bootle advanced with a 4-1 win over AFC Liverpool.

The action returns on with 28 NWCFL fixtures - a full programme in the NWCFL Premier Division, NWCFL First Division North and eight games in the NWCFL First Division South - expect many movers and shakers!
