First Division South Opening Day Preview

Vauxhall Motors will face recently relegated Abbey Hey to kick off their campaign, as they aim for promotion following missing out through points per game last season.

Terry Hincks took over at Goredale Avenue over the summer and has been impressed by the optimism at the club despite relegation last season.

West Didsbury & Chorlton were also relegated along side Abbey Hey into this division, and they face a trip to Eccleshall on the opening day.

Eccleshall co-managers Kyle Adams and Craig bould were happy with 13th place last year, but will want more this season.

Stone Old Alleynians finished third in their maiden NWCFL campaign and will be looking to use that as a springboard for this season.

They travel to Cheadle Heath Nomads, another team with an impressive debut season finishing ninth.

Ellesmere Rangers were reprieved from relegation despite finishing 19th last season and they host Barnton, who have a new manager in James McShane for the upcoming season.

Alsager Town have new managers in Lee Bennett and Dan Davies, and they welcome a Maine Road team who finished 14th after relegation from the Premier Division the year prior

Cammell Laird's finished 15th last season despite qualifying for the playoffs the season before, and they host Cheadle Town who finished one point behind them last season.

Abbey Hulton United's third NWCFL season starts at home to FC Oswestry Town who have set up links with TNS ahead of this season.

Stockport Town's Lambeth Grove will host Shane Goldrick's Wythenshawe Amateurs who finished 4th last season.

It was mid-table for Stockport last season and their joint boss Bobby Lofthouse is aiming for promotion this campaign.

After consecutive years in the playoff positions, Sandbach United finished seventh last year in what they'll consider a disappointment.

They travel to Wythenshawe Town on opening day, who finished two spots ahead of them in their first NWCFL campaign.

St Martins manager Paul Moore is eagerly anticipating the start of the new season, and they face New Mills at home who finished 18th last season.
