With a full schedule in all three divisions in the Hallmark Security League, the weekend ahead represents an important one for all our teams.

Premier Division leaders City of Liverpool moved eight points clear at the top with a fifth straight victory against Charnock Richard on Tuesday, and travel to 9th placed Padiham who will be looking to bounce back after three winless away matches.

The Purps’ closest challengers Congleton Town have won their last seven and conceded just once in that time.

However, Saturday’s trip to Irlam represents one of their toughest tests yet, with Michael Dodd’s team second in the form guide behind the Bears having lost just one of their last nine, and moving up to 7th in the league by beating Padiham on Tuesday.

In a repeat of last Sunday’s Macron Cup tie, Northwich Victoria entertain Runcorn Town.

Vics triumphed 3-1 on that occasion, and are 11th but have played the fewest league matches in the division. 3rd placed Town will look to bounce back in only their second Premier Division fixture since 9th October.

The 5-0 Macron Cup thrashing at First Division South side Cheadle Town will have come as a huge shock to Bootle, who had climbed to 4th in the standings with five consecutive wins.

They will hope for a response at home to 16th placed Squires Gate, who ended a four match losing run by drawing at Burscough midweek.

Barnoldswick Town are 5th and seek a sixth home win out of seven against Burscough. Terry Green’s men are 14th but have now lost just one of their last seven.

Two out of sort sides go head-to-head as 6th placed Silsden host 17th placed Hanley Town. The Cobbydalers have won just one of their last five, and were beaten 5-2 at home by Irlam last weekend.

The visitors had lost seven on the bounce prior to recording a first three points under Simon Bell last Saturday – a 2-0 triumph against Winsford United.

Meanwhile 8th placed Charnock Richard entertain an 1874 Northwich side sitting 13th, with both teams striving for greater consistency as they aim to surge up the table (although the visitors have now lost only one of their last seven).

It’s a similar story for Whitchurch Alport in 10th as they go to third from bottom Winsford United, who have lost seven of their last nine, and Litherland REMYCA in 12th going into an away match at second bottom West Didsbury & Chorlton, who did end a nine game losing streak in the Macron Cup at Eccleshall last weekend.

Ashton Athletic are 15th, but seek their third consecutive win away at Abbey Hey, who prop up the division despite defeating Atherton LR in the Macron Cup last Saturday.

In the First Division North, the pace-setters Longridge Town are four clear at the summit, and seek a 14th league win out of 15 at home to AFC Darwen, who have dropped off to 11th with just one victory from their last nine.

After two defeats and a draw, 2nd placed Carlisle City got back to winning ways last weekend by beating Daisy Hill 6-3.

They will hope for more of the same at St Helens Town, who sit 15th having lost their last five games.

One of the fixtures of the day looks to be at the Stafflex Arena where Shelley welcome Avro.

The two league newcomers sit 5th and 3rd respectively and are separated by just a point. Ash Berry’s hosts are looking for a fourth straight win, with the visitors triumphing in five of their last six, including a very impressive 7-0 dispatching of Wythenshawe Town in the Macron Cup last time out.

Those two teams are divided in the table by AFC Liverpool, whose 3-0 reverse at Garstang midweek came after back-to-back maximum point hauls.

They will be hoping for another one of those at home to Holker Old Boys, who remain second from bottom but have recorded some decent results of late by winning at Atherton LR and drawing at AFC Blackpool on Tuesday.

6th placed Lower Breck are at home to Steeton, with the hosts having won eight of their last ten on their own patch, scoring 16 goals in their previous three there.

The visitors are 8th with just one victory out of nine, although that was an important one in the league last Saturday against St Helens Town.

Two very good outfits meet as Garstang host Prestwich Heys.

The home team are 13th but have won their last three in all competitions, whilst 7th placed Heys’ only defeat in their last five came at Premier Division Northwich Victoria.

9th placed Cleator Moor Celtic have won two of their last three in the league but lost 5-0 at Prestwich in the Macron Cup last weekend, so they will hope to bounce back at home to AFC Blackpool. The visitors are 12th but now winless in five matches.

After a first loss in four at Prestwich in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy midweek, 10th placed Bacup Borough welcome 14th placed Ashton Town, who won their last league outing 3-1 at AFC Liverpool.

There are a couple of important clashes involving the bottom five, starting at New Sirs where Daisy Hill host Chadderton.

The Daisies are outside the bottom two only on goal difference, and are six points behind their 16th placed opponents, who have won just one of their last nine in the league but claimed a scalp in the Manchester Premier Cup on Tuesday by eliminating Droylsden.

Nelson are 17th but are in decent form with three wins from their last five, including a 5-0 away victory at Maine Road in the Macron Cup last Saturday.

They will want another at home to Atherton LR, who have lost their last seven and are now four points adrift at the bottom.

In the First Division South, things are very tight at the top. The leaders are currently Abbey Hulton United, who have now won their last four games going into a home fixture against Stockport Town.

The Lions are 16th but by all accounts recent performances indicate that that represents a false position.

2nd placed Rylands are two points behind with two games in hand, and host Stone Old Alleynians.

The home side have triumphed in eight of their last nine, but face a tough test against the 7th placed visitors, who ended a five match winless run with an impressive midweek win against Wythenshawe Town.

Wythenshawe Amateurs in 3rd will hope to respond to back-to-back defeats to Premier Division opposition as they host Alsager Town. The Bullets are 11th, but have now won three of their last four.

It’s 5th vs 4th as St Martins meet Wythenshawe Town at the Venue. The home side have won two and drawn one of their last three in all competitions, whilst the visitors had won four on the spin prior to losing their last two against Avro and Stone Old Alleynians.

Cheadle Heath Nomads remain 6th but seek to end a run of three successive losses at home to Ellesmere Rangers.

The division’s bottom side remain six points from safety, but their first league victory of the season at Alsager in their last outing will have been a huge confidence boost.

8th placed Sandbach United’s only defeat in their last seven came against Premier Division Burscough last Saturday, and they face a trip to Cammell Laird 1907 this weekend.

Lairds are 15th, but their cup success this season continued by eliminating Lower Breck from the Macron Cup last Saturday – a perfect response to a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Barnton.

FC Oswestry Town are 9th, but their only defeat in their last ten came at table-topping Abbey Hulton. They travel to 13th placed Cheadle Town, who should be buoyant after that stunning victory against Bootle in the Macron Cup.

On Friday night, 10th placed Vauxhall Motors entertain Barnton, with Mick McGraa’s team returning to winning ways with a 3-2 victory against Stockport Town on Tuesday.

The Villagers have proved something of a Jekyll and Hyde team of late – their last ten have featured five big wins, four heavy losses and a penalty shoot-out defeat to Northwich Victoria. They sit 12th in the table.

14th placed New Mills ended a bad run in their last home match against Stone Old Alleynians, and despite losing at Alsager last weekend, they will aim for another three points against Eccleshall at Church Lane. The Eagles are 17th and have lost their last four.

And last but not least is a big clash at the bottom as Stone Dominoes (19th) entertain Maine Road (18th). The sides are separated by two points, and the hosts have won just one of their last 15 whilst the visitors have triumphed in only one of their last five.

Plenty of games to choose from, so get along to your local Hallmark Security League club!
