Daisy Hill - there was a familiar face missing at New Sirs on Monday night when Daisy Hill hosted AFC Liverpool.
Club Secretary Bob Naylor would normally be at the centre of activity on match days, but for once, on Monday he was missing although for a good reason - the date of the game fell on his 80th birthday, and he was attending a family celebration.
Belated Happy Birthday Bob!
West Didsbury & Chorlton - West will be hosting an inaugural Fans Invitational 7-a-side tournament before this Bank Holiday Monday’s fixture against Whitchurch Alport.
Devised by Tom Hostler – who, among other things, has been involved in the creation of some of the club’s finest flags – teams will play on West’s training pitches adjoining the main pitch, and it is hoped the tournament will become a regular event.
New Mills - when the Millers won successive league games against Cheadle Town, Cammell Laird 1907 and Maine Road, scoring four, five and four gaols respectively, it prompted Club Historian Allan Jones to check the history books to see when the Millers last achieved the feat.
The answer was in the 2007/08 season, when the Millers won the NWCFL Second Division under the Management of Tony Hancock.
The results in question were;
8 March 2008 - The Millers 7-0 Ashton Town - Meakin 2, Mayers 2, Shaw, Zajac, Ward
15 March 2008 - Kirkham & Wesham 0-4 The Millers - Knight 2, Meakin, Shaw
22 March 2008 - The Millers 9-0 Holker OB - Meakin 3, Mayers 2, Kharas 2, Mather, Morning
The Millers went on to win the next game 4-0 too, away at Leek CSOB, and the winning run at the end of that season was to extend to ten games with many high scoring victories included in that run.
1874 Northwich - Following the successful introduction of the first 1874 Junior team last season, the club are now setting up a new Under 7 side. The team will play home games at the Belmont Road field in Northwich on Saturday mornings.
Winsford United - the Blues have now reopened the recently refurbished Blues Club at the St Lukes Barton Stadium.
A statement on the club website said: "A huge thank you to everyone who has donated their time, resources and materials to enable the works to be undertaken. This would not have been achievable without the support of the local community".
