Once again, a combination of ice, snow and rain across the region in the past few days made its mark on the Saturday fixtures, with nine games surviving the latest wintry blast.

But there was no shortage of entertainment across the games that did go ahead, with 43 goals across four games in the Premier Division, and five in Division One.

In the Premier Division, Runcorn Linnets took advantage of fellow promotion chasers' inactivity with a thumping 6-2 win over Charnock Richard at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Star of the show for Linnets was striker Freddie Potter who bagged a hat trick, and Michael Simpson, a Danny O'Brien penalty - his eighth successfully converted spot kick of the season - and Mitchell Bryant chipped in with a goal apiece.

But even in defeat, Charnock Richard's goalscoring machine Cark Grimshaw managed to make his mark on the game with both goals for the visitors.

The win extended Linnets' lead at the top to ten points over local rivals Runcorn Town.

However, if you cast your eye down to 13th place in the table you will find 1874 Northwich, who have played ten - yes ten - games less than Linnets, and if they won them all, they'd be level on points with Linnets.

1874 experienced the relative novelty of an away game, with their 3-2 win at Maine Road being their first league fixture on the road since 1st November, a statistic that explains, at least in part, their fixture backlog.

The crowd at Brantingham Road contained a fair sized travelling contingent, and they went home happy after seeing their favourites snatch the points with a Iast gasp winner at the end of an entertaining game.

Road took an early lead when Samuel Riley fired them ahead in the 3rd minute, but Jack Pritchard levelled for 1874 on the stroke of half time with a glancing header.

Jake Parker then put the visitors ahead with a close range shot in the 68th minute, a goal that appeared to have sealed the points as the game moved into the final minute.

But Jack Coop stunned the travelling support with a 90th minute equaliser, only for the mood to change once more when Ryan Mitchell popped to bag the winner for 1874 with virtually the last kick of the game in stoppage time.

AFC Liverpool remain in the relegation zone after going down 4-3 at home to Barnoldswick Town, but the spectators at the Marine Travel Arena got their money's worth from a din-dong affair.

Joel Melia and Mark Threlfall gave Barlick a two goal lead inside 10 minutes, but goals from Kevin Edgar and Daniel Boden had the Reds level by the break.

Jack Overson then put Barlick back in front six minutes into the second half, but a second of the afternoon from Daniel Boden pulled the Reds back level once again 14 minutes from time.

But within two minutes Harry Thompson struck what proved to be a fatal blow with the winner for the visitors.

The other game in the Premier Division was a Cheshire derby at the Richborough Estates Stadium that ended all square, with Congleton Town and Northwich Victoria sharing a 1-1 draw.

Oliver Ford gave the Bears a 55th minute lead, but Brian Matthews rescued a point for Vics with an equaliser two minutes from time.

In Division One, game of the day was at the Cobbydale Construction Stadium, and Silsden AFC lost 100% home league record when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Whitchurch Alport.

The afternoon began well for the Cobbydalers, as Christopher Wademan gave them a 14th minute lead, but Ryan Thomas equalised for Alport on 66 minutes, and there was late drama when Joseph Howell grabbed the winner for the visitors two minutes from time.

Silsden remain at the top of the table, and the win moves Alport level on points with Prestwich Heys in third place.

Cammell Laird 1907 remain one point and one place outside the play offs, after going down to a 4-2 defeat at Eccleshall.

The home side had roared into a four goal lead by the 36th minute, thanks to goals from Daniel Needham and Serkari Ahmadi, either side of two from Louis Downs.

Lairds restored some respectability to the score with two goals in the last ten minutes from Charlie MacInnes.

Sandbach United missed out on the chance to leap frog over Lairds as they went down 3-2 at Stockport Town.

United had gone ahead through an 11th minute goal from James Kirby, but two goals from Ben Halfacre gave Town the lead at the break, and Ruben Goncalves De Abreu increased their advantage four minutes into the second half.

Stephen Jones pulled a goal back for Sandbach in the 80th minute but the home side held on to claim the points.

Holker Old Boys continued their climb up the table, with a 2-1 home win over Bacup Borough moving them to within four points of a play off place.

John-Paul Stanway and Nathan Reid had given the Stags a two goal lead by the hour mark, although Wayne Morrison pulled one back for Borough on 63 minutes.

Also in Cumbria, Carlisle City shared a 2-2 draw with Cheadle Town at Gillford Park.

Richard Whyatt twice gave Cheadle the lead, but City earned a point thanks to goals from Daniel Greenslade and Robert McCartney.
