Non-League Day brought the fans out in force at non-league grounds around the country, and our League enjoyed some good attendances at fixtures from Carlisle to Eccleshall, and all points in between.

In the Premier Division, a waterlogged pitch at AFC Darwen meant that league leaders Runcorn Town were inactive, and that gave near neighbours Runcorn Linnets the opportunity to narrow the gap at the top of the table.

Linnets duly did so with a 4-2 win at 1874 Northwich, after establishing a three goal lead at half time thanks to goals from Mark Houghton, Paul Shanley and Kyle Hamid.  Mark Houghton added a second eight minutes into the second half to put the result beyond doubt, although Sam Hind and Matthew Woolley scored late on for 1874 to make the scoreline look a bit more respectable.

Linnets now trail their town rivals by four points.

Bootle moved into third place thanks to a 2-0 home win over Abbey Hey, Ryan Cox's first half strike being doubled by Kieran Haligan after the break.

Charnock Richard are fourth after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Winsford United, although it could have been worse as it took a 90th minute equaliser from Mark Woods to rescue a point after Callum Gardner had given Winsford the lead in the 52nd minute.

Hanley Town's recent good form continued with a 3-1 at Barnoldswick Town which sees them in fifth place, Theo Stair scoring twice, ahead of West Didsbury & Chorlton on goal difference who beat Squires Gate 4-2 at Brookburn Road.  Ben Steer set West on the way with two goals in the opening 17 minutes.

A good sized crowd at the YESSS Electrical Arena saw early goals from Kieran Pickup and Chris Turner seal a 2-0 win for Padiham over City of Liverpool, and Jordan Icely captured the headlines at the Ambitek Stadium with a hat trick in Irlam's 4-0 win over Barnton, a result that moved the Villagers to the bottom of the table on goal difference.

Northwich Victoria shared an entertaining 2-2 draw with Widnes, with William Webb's goal giving Widnes a lead they held until 15 minutes from time.  Brian Matthews (75)Jake Pollard (87) then put Vics ahead only for Andrew Gillespie to level for the visitors in the last minute.

Elsewhere, Calum Broady and Jack Poxon were on target for Maine Road in the 2-1 win at AFC Liverpool, and the game between Congleton Town and Ashton Athletic was abandoned due to a player injury.

In the First Division, Silsden continue to set the pace and maintained their 100% start to the league season with a 2-1 home win over Cammell Laird 1907.  Joe Gaughan had given the Cobbydalers a half time lead but Paul Jewell levelled for Lairds before Mateusz Tomas struck a 69th minute winner.

Prestwich Heys moved into second place with a dramatic last gasp 3-2 win against Alsager Town at Woodpark Stadium.  Heys were two ahead at half time through goals from Daniel White and Jamie Baguley, but Jordan Erdman and Taylor Attrell pulled the Bullets level before Baguley's second of the game in the last minute pinched the points for the visitors.

One of the eye catching results of the day was at the Litherland Sports Park, where REMYCA's run of eight successive wins was ended by New Mills, with two goals from Dennis Sherriff earning the Millers a 2-1 win.

Sandbach United are fifth after a good 4-1 win at Atherton LR, their second away win of the week. They were a goal behind at the break, but James Kirby equalised on the hour, and further goals in the last ten minutes from Ryan Cattermole, Ryan Brooke and Stuart Tulloch sealed the win.

Stockport Town are just outside the play off places after a last minute winner from Ben Hardacre earned them a 2-1 win at home to Daisy Hill, and AFC Blackpool moved up into eight place with a 3-1 win over Abbey Hulton United at the Mechanics Ground.

Two goals from Robert McCartney saw Carlisle City through to a 2-1 win against FC Oswestry Town, the Cumbrians' second home win of the week, and Nelson's 2-0 win at Cheadle Town was the Admirals' first win of the season.

Danny Keenan's hat trick was the highlight of Holker Old Boys' 4-2 win at Eccleshall, and St Helens Town finally recorded their first ever home win at Ruskin Drive at the fifth attempt, with second half goals from Shaun Brady, Alex Ashby and a Beck Murray penalty earning a 3-1 win over Chadderton.
