The Easter Monday fixtures were always destined to prove crucial in the shake up at the end of the season, with some important results affecting the top and bottom of both divisions.

In the Premier Division, Atherton Collieries took another step closer to clinching the title with a 5-1 home win over AFC Darwen in the morning Groundhop game that kicked off at 11 am.

A Jordan Cover hat trick was the highlight of another impressive Colls display, who now need five points from their remaining three games to get their hands on the Premier Division trophy.

Runcorn Linnets remain in second place but now cannot overtake Colls at the top after being held to a goalless draw at Hanley Town, but Bootle could still catch Colls and kept up the pressure with a 4-1 win at AFC Liverpool.

After falling behind to a Mark Kirby goal early on, Sean Coulton and Ryan Cox gave Bootle a 2-1 half time lead, and Michael Ordish added two more in the second half to round off a comfortable win.

In the landlords v tenants clash at the St Lukes Barton Stadium, 1874 Northwich gained revenge for their Boxing Day defeat with a 4-1 win over Winsford United. Sam Hind and Adam Whitlock both scored twice for the Greens.

At the bottom of the table, Nelson are now officially relegated after drawing 2-2 at home to Padiham. Morgan Crowther had given the Admirals an early lead, but goals from James Dean and Mark Young had the Storks in front before Thomas Keellings levelled 16 minutes from time.

New Mills could still avoid the drop, and they did their chances a power of good with a 3-0 win at home to Barnoldswick Town.

Dennis Sherriff gave them an 18th minute lead, and two goals in the last two minutes from Callum Collinson and Joe Rothwell rounded off an important win.

In the two other Groundhop games later in the day, goals in the last two minutes from Saul Henderson and Carlos Mendes Gomes sealed a 3-1 win for West Didsbury & Chorlton over Congleton Town, and Maine Road and Abbey Hey rounded off the afternoon action with a 2-2 draw

Goals from Joshua Maldon and Callum Kerr earned bottom of the table Cammell Laird 1907 their first away win of the season, a 2-0 victory at Irlam.

In the First Division, several of the day's results could prove to be important in deciding both the automatic promotion and the play off places.

Charnock Richard remain top of the table after a 3-1 home win over Sandbach United, with Matthew Davison, Jonathan Hession and Carl Grimshaw on target.

Widnes are point behind in second place after a hard fought 2-1 win at Chadderton.

Kevin Pollard gave the visitors the lead on 15 minutes, Jack Tuohy levelled just after the hour for Chadderton, and then seven minutes later George Lomax struck what could be a vital winner for Joey Dunn's men.

Litherland REMYCA earned an important three points at the expense of promotion rivals Whitchurch Alport, with a 2-1 win in Shropshire in front of a record crowd of 670 at Yockings Park.

Michael Boyle and Colin Quirk gave Remy a two goal lead after 53 minutes, and although Nick Marley pulled a goal back 14 minutes from time, the visitors held on for an important three points.

They now sit one place and four points ahead of City of Liverpool FC, who lost 2-1 at home to Cheadle Town in front of 691 spectators, their biggest crowd of the season.

Two goals in the last 15 minutes from Rhys Webb and Dean Nolan put Cheadle two up and although Jamie MacDonald reduced the arrears in the final minute, the Purples ended up on the wrong end of a result that damaged their hopes of automatic promotion.

Alsager Town and Prestwich Heys can still make the play offs, and Alsager kept their hopes alive with a 4-2 win at FC Oswestry Town, in which the highlight was a hat trick from Mark Grice.

However, an early goal from Jamie Heath earned Carlisle City a 1-0 win at home to Prestwich Heys, who are now two points behind Alsager albeit with a game in hand.

Eccleshall ended their run of four successive defeats with a 2-2 draw at home to Holker Old Boys, goals from Thomas Wakefield and James Wildman earning a point after they had been two goals down after 65 minutes.

In the other game, Thomas Henderson and Mark Everingham were on target for Silsden in the 2-0 home win over Atherton LR.
