Seven up again for the Bucks

Back on these pages in December we made comment about the fact that Bootle had twice in the space of a month won 7-1 away from home, at Hanley Town and AFC Darwen.

A score like that twice in a season is some going, but the Bucks only went and did it for a third time on Saturday at Cammell Laird 1907.

They can't do it again - can they?

Colls in fine fettle

Atherton Collieries travel over to Lincolnshire to face Cleethorpes Town in the FA Vase Fifth Round this coming Saturday, and they certainly couldn't be going into the game in better form.

Saturday's win at Congleton Town was their eighth successive win in all competitions, and their ninth successive league win.

While promotion is obviously a priority, a trip to Wembley can't ruled out either with Michael Clegg's men in that sort of mood.

Win dispels winter blues for the Admirals

When a team is struggling in the relegation zone, there's often a point where their season appears to have taken a turn for the better, and that could be the case at Nelson, after Saturday's eye catching 7-4 win over New Mills.

It was the Admirals' first league win since October, a victory that helped them move above the Millers in the relegation, and recent signing Jason Hart bagged a hat trick to add to the two goals he had already bagged in his first four games.

Time will tell if it's a turning point, but it was certainly a positive start for Alex Norwood's side in their first game of 2017.

Eagles land vital win

Another win on Saturday that could prove to be significant in the shake up at the end of the season was Eccleshall's 2-1 win at Atherton LR, achieved courtesy of a last minute winner from Nathan Dyer.

It was the Eagles' first away win under recently appointed manager Jamie Cullerton, and only their third of the season. More importantly, it moved them to within five points of LR with two games in hand - the nearest team above them outside the drop zone.

There's still plenty of football to be played, but time will tell how important Saturday's last gasp goal will turn out to be.

Impressive milestone for Ryan

One of the league's most regular and consistent performers reached a personal and club milestone on Saturday.

Ryan Mitchell of 1874 Northwich made his 150th appearance for the Greens in the 1-0 win over Hanley Town - a very impressive figure given that the club are only halfway through their fourth season in existence.

Ryan has been with the club right from the start, and to make 150 appearances in such a relatively short period of time shows a commendable level of consistency and commitment to the club.

Well done Ryan.
