No fewer than four teams could find themselves topping the table come sundown on Saturday, with just four points separating the top five.
Pick of the ties is arguably Runcorn Town visiting sixth placed Padiham, Padiham being beaten just once in the last six, with Town currently sitting third.
After coming from behind to win 3-1 against West Didsbury and Chorlton, Atherton Collieries are away at sixteenth placed Congleton Town, the Bears having bagged a late equaliser at Irlam to draw 1-1 last weekend.
A six-pointer at Little Wembley sees Nelson take on fellow strugglers New Mills in what should be Nelson's first game of the New Year. New Mills' awful run of form continued a fortnight ago, though not without goals - losing 4-3 at West Didsbury & Chorlton.
West Didsbury visit AFC Darwen, who look to improve their patchy form and extend the 8-point safety buffer above the relegation zone.
Barnoldswick Town's new manager Danny Craig takes his side to visit Runcorn Linnets for his first game in charge, with the home side looking to breamk a run that has seen them fail to win any of their last three home games.
AFC Liverpool hope to put their midweek Cheshire Senior Cup defeat behind them (losing 4-0 to Evostik side and former hosts Prescot Cables) with the visit of Banton to the Marine Travel Arena. Barnton last week went down 5-1 in an extraordinary first half at Ashton Athletic which saw them four goals behind within just twenty minutes.
League Leaders Bootle travel through the tunnel to bottom-placed Cammell Laird 1907 hoping to once more open up a gap at the top of the table. A 2-0 Bootle win at Congleton was followed by a 5-4 win on penalties against Tranmere Rovers in the Semi-Final of the Liverpool Senior Cup on 10th January. Cammell Laird's woeful season continues, so far 29 games without a win.
St Luke's Barton Stadium hosts promotion hopefuls 1874 Northwich against 9th placed Hanley Town in what could prove to be a thriller. Hanley turned over Runcorn Linnets 5-2 in their last outing with 1874 eeking out 1-1 a draw against Maine Road, with both goals coming in the last 6 minutes, Maine Road equalising with just 2 minutes remaining on the clock.
Elsewhere, there's a close looking encounters at the Amibitek Stadium, where Irlam are at home to a Winsford United side who sit just four points behind them, and Squires Gate host Maine Road at the recently renamed Brian Addison Stadium.
