MACRON PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION – CARL PEERS OF BOOTLE
If Carl thought he'd had an impressive October, then his November was even better.
The Bucks midfielder was instrumental in his side’s good form, scoring seven times in six appearances, taking his tally for the season to seventeen.
Peers kicked off the month by helping his side to a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Ashton Athletic. Despite not being on the scoresheet Peers set up team mate Ste Jones for the Bucks fifth of the evening, as well as seeing an effort superbly saved by Martin Pearson in the Athletic goal.
The Bucks went one better in their next outing by hitting Hanley Town for seven. Peers played a key role in his side’s win, scoring the fifth of the afternoon as well as setting up team mates Ryan Cox and Paul Woollcott for their goals.
Joe Doran's side then turned their attentions to the FA Vase in their next game, taking on Steve Wilkes' Padiham. With the game hanging firmly in the balance with the Bucks leading by a single goal, Peers pounced on a goalkeeping mistake to put his side two goals to the good and seal their passage into the third round.
Three days later, and the Bucks returned to league action by beating Cammell Laird 1907 6-1 with Peers picking up a perfect hat-trick. The midfielder gave his side the lead with a sweet right footed volley, before putting his side 2-1 to the good with a superb diving header. Peers then completed his hat-trick and the scoring with a low left- footed curling effort.
Next up for Peers was a Liverpool Senior Cup tie against one of his former clubs Marine. The Bucks produced a superb performance, claiming a 3-2 win, with Peers once again playing his part. The midfielder gave his side the lead with a fine side footed strike after connecting with Ryan Cox's cross.
Peers rounded of the month by putting the icing on the cake for his side in their 3-0 win at New Mills. With his side already two goals to the good, Peers collected the ball inside the Millers’ box before twisting and turning and letting fly with a thunderous effort that flew into the top corner of the net.
All in all it was another excellent month for Peers who now stands on seventeen goals for the season which, for a midfielder, is nothing short of a fantastic return.
DIVISION ONE – NATHAN FAIRHURST OF CHARNOCK RICHARD
Former Wrexham midfielder Nathan Fairhurst has enjoyed outstanding form since arriving at Mossie Park from our West Lancashire League near neighbours Coppull United during the summer.
Nathan has unobtrusively gone about his work in an efficient manner. His overall contribution, to what has been an excellent start to the club’s first ever season in the Hallmark Security League, has been immeasurable, and during November Nathan put in some outstanding performances in both league and cup.
Whilst his work-rate and talented displays has been second to none throughout, his contribution can so easily be overlooked by the spectacular efforts of colleagues around him in what is a well organised and competent team. What has marked Nathan out is the sheer regularity of fine performances - he just never seems to have a poor game.
Nathan’s highly efficient and polished performances have been a major factor in Charnock’s decent start to the campaign. He has gone about his business in a quietly efficient and highly productive way, and has been a key member of the squad.
REUSCH GOALKEEPER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
PREMIER DIVISION – RYAN JONES OF BOOTLE
As footballing months go, Bootle FC's November was quite simply the best it could have been.
Six games played, six games won with progression in both the Liverpool Senior Cup and the FA Vase secured, and one man who played a huge part in the Bucks success was goalkeeper Ryan Jones.
The keeper, who signed for the Bucks at the back end of last season, was in excellent form, keeping two clean sheets and saving two penalties in the month.
Jones and his side kicked off the month with a fine 6-0 win over Ashton Athletic. But despite the emphatic scoreline the Bucks had Jones to thank for a fine first half performance which kept the scoreline at 1-0. Jones made two crucial stops towards the end of the first half denying both Joel Brownhill and Daniel Regan from close range.
Next up was another away trip, this time to Premier Division new boys Hanley Town. What followed was arguably the Bucks best performance of the season so far, as they ran comprehensive 7-1 winners. But despite a quite afternoon for Jones - when he was called upon he certainly stepped up to the mark. As with ten minutes remaining, he superbly saved a Jonathan Higham penalty.
FA Vase action then followed for the Bucks with a visit to fellow Hallmark Security Premier Division side Padiham. Jones was once again on top form helping his side to a hard-fought 2-0 win, against a side who'd scored fifteen times in their previous five games. The former Bradford Park Avenue man saved well in the first half from Kieran Pickup and Gary Hunter before producing another excellent save to deny James Dean at a point in the game where the score was 1-0 to the Bucks.
Another comprehensive win followed for the Bucks, as they ran out 6-1 winners against local Merseyside rivals Cammell Laird 1907.
Joe Doran's side continued their impressive form in their next outing by dumping Evo-Stik Premier side and local rivals Marine out of the Liverpool Senior Cup with a 3-2 win over the Mariners.
Despite being beaten twice on the night, Jones was once again on top form producing a string of fine saves with the pick of the bunch being a superb one handed push over after Michael Monaghan had let fly. Jones also saved another penalty, his second spot kick save of the month, after the Bucks keeper guest right to block Kurt Sherlock's effort.
The Bucks finished the month with a fine a 3-0 win away at New Mills. The clean sheet was Jones' ninth of the season and once again came courtesy of some fine stops at crucial stages of the game. First the keeper denied Tunde Owolabi with a superb one handed instinctive stop with the game goalless. Jones then tipped over Sam Marshall's dipping effort with the Bucks a goal to the good.
DIVISION ONE - RICHIE MOTTRAM OF WIDNES
November was another month in which Richie produced a series of solid performances, during which the team recorded impressive wins at Skelmersdale United in the Liverpool Senior Cup and at Winsford United in the Macron Cup.
Richie played in all six games during the month, in which the team recorded 5 wins and a draw, and in each of those games was in top form, making vital saves at crucial points in the games.
His ability to influence the attacking side of the game, with his long range passing off the floor and kicking out of his hands, has also been highly instrumental in the team’s ability to make the transition from defence to attack so potent.
A previous winner of the award several times in the past at his previous clubs, including Runcorn Linnets and Barnton, Richie has again proved his worth to his team mates in all aspects of his play with his performances during November.
