The FA has ruled that Charnock Richard's rearranged FA Vase tie against Staveley Miners Welfare of the Northern Counties East League must take place this coming Tuesday evening, 15th November.

The game was postponed on its original date last Saturday, and in view of the distance that Stavely have to travel to play the fixture – 106 miles of predominantly motorway travel along the M1 and M62 from Chesterfield - Charnock Richard were happy to move the tie to Saturday 19th November.

It took Staveley representatives over two and a half hours to make the trip to watch a game at Mossie Park last week, and therefore both clubs were given permission by their respective leagues to postpone their league fixtures next Saturday.

However, as a replay date was originally fixed for Tuesday 15th November, the FA have ruled the rearranged game must take place on the scheduled replay date, although they have sanctioned a kick off time of 8.15pm.

Hallmark Security League Chairman Paul Lawler said:

“The League's Emergency Committee discussed the request and we also spoke to the Northern Counties East League Chairman, and we were all in agreement for the game to take place on Saturday and postpone the league fixtures scheduled on that date.  This was based on the distance between both clubs being greater than 100 miles.

“We were both aware it was ultimately the FA’s decision to make, but we were both happy to back our clubs. It is therefore disappointing that the wishes of both clubs and their respective leagues were not taken into account.

“As we have stated previously, we have already submitted a proposal to the FA Vase Committee suggesting that clubs should not be forced to make midweek journeys of over 100 miles for FA Vase ties, and have yet to receive a response to this proposal.

“We hope that the FA takes note that the Northern Counties East League were also happy to sanction the postponement of a league fixture to accommodate an FA Vase tie, and with leagues in the south of the country already having adopted this approach earlier in the season, our hope is that the FA realises there is growing support for a rule of this nature to be brought in".
