Development Update

It has been another busy week on the League Development side of things with a number of projects starting to take shape and interest in the work that we are doing increasing in all sorts of places.
Coaching Workshops: First up, the Coaching Workshops that we are putting on at the Liverpool County FA and Manchester County FA have attracted a lot of interest and both are now around a third full. We still have plenty of room on both of these workshops.
Funded by the League ourselves but open to all coaching Staff in the NWCFL & Step 7, the coaching workshops are designed to offer two sessions over consecutive Monday nights, one theory and one practical lasting three hours apiece. The sessions will focus on a number of items, including:
· Safeguarding Players in the NWCFL
· Referee Developments/Rules Updates including Q&A with a Referee Development Officer
· Team Support
· The relationships between Leagues and Clubs & what each are looking for including Q&A with available League Officials
· Preparation
· Players Budgets
· Systems of Play
· Set-Pieces
· Warm-Ups & Tactical presence
· And many other aspects
The Dates are: Liverpool County FA 14th & 21st November 6-9pm and Manchester County FA 28th November and 5th December 6-9pm. The Sessions also count towards CPD for those who are racking that up.
Admin Workshop: We will shortly be announcing the leagues Administration Workshop, that will be taking place in mid-December at Charnock Richard FC. We are working on the format and content of that at the moment but we will put out a full announcement on that when all is sorted on that.
Fan Engagement: I recently visited Northern Ireland to take in a game and visit a couple of clubs to see how they engage their fans. As we published last week, we are very much involved in the Growing Your Club scheme headed by Mark Bradley at the Fan Experience Company. At the Crusaders Vs Carrick Rangers game I met Dr Damien Gallagher, Lecturer at Ulster University who is Researching Sports Marketing and Sporting Social Media. He is working with Crusaders, The Fan Experience Company and with Northern Irish Sport in studying fan engagement and the effects of social media in modern football. He is keen to share ideas and work with us in initiatives, so more on that to come.
What was interesting over the weekend was the use of honesty flags, initiatives to get kids involved at clubs as well as the Volunteer schemes they have over there where volunteers clock up Volunteer hours and receive recognition and awards. I was also impressed with the Ards FC Amigo Boxes (Well worth a google!). All initiatives that we will be looking at over time, but when you are looking at these things on paper, it’s never quite the same as seeing them ‘Live’.
So whilst the football is doing the talking on the field with all competitions in full swing, behind the scenes we are looking at initiatives to help everyone from the bottom to the top.
