Division One Preview - Saturday 10th September 2016

Remarkable. The 2016/17 First Division season has been nothing short of that word, remarkable.
With brand new clubs entering the League this campaign, the league really has shaken up anyone’s pre-season predictions.
With five of the top 10 spots in the league currently held by a new league club it has gone to show just how unpredictable this season is going to be. Favourites from the start of the season have begun to struggle, and in contrast, teams that struggled heavily last season have started to put their troubles behind them.
Despite there only being three league fixtures this weekend, all three encounters are bound to see some goals and the league has already seen 389 goals scored this early in the campaign, compared to only 307 in the Premier Division. Who will be the team to score the 400th goal of the season and will it be this weekend?
Currently holding the final playoff spot, Sandbach United are hosts to last season's playoff finalists Bacup Borough at the Sandbach Community Football Centre.
Bacup, much like a number of clubs who performed well last season, have struggled to find their form in this campaign as they currently occupy 17th place, and in comparison Sandbach have won five of their last six league matches and are now 6th.
United, who overcame Cheadle Town 2-1 on Wednesday night will be hoping a victory can see them hold onto their final playoff spot. However Bacup will be looking to spoil the party as victory for them could see them rise as high as 11th.
Stockport Town welcome Holker Old Boys to Stockport Sports Village on Saturday, in what is expected to be a thoroughly entertaining match with both sides recently returning to form.
Holker arrive at SSV on the back of a 2-0 home win over Atherton LR, and an away win could see them jump into the final playoff spot in 6th. Stockport meanwhile are concentrating on climbing the table, edging away from the bottom half after dipping in and out of form.
Last Saturday’s comfortable 3-1 home win over AFC Blackpool saw The Lions record their third 3-1 home win of the season in just four matches, and Holker will be hoping that pattern does not continue on Saturday afternoon.
This weekend sees yet another clash between two sides new to the Hallmark Security League Division One this season as AFC Blackpool take on Prestwich Heys at the Mechanics Ground.
Early life in Division One has had contrasting differences for both sides as Blackpool sit two places above rock bottom, meanwhile Heys, who have been flying of late, are just one point off the playoff places in 7th.
Blackpool will be looking to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat away at Stockport Town, however they come up against a side in Heys, who have scored 10 goals in their last three matches, most recently a 5-2 home win over Eccleshall last Saturday.
A win for Heys could see them bridge a gap between 7th and 8th (Chadderton), meanwhile a second victory of the season for Blackpool could see them overtake Bacup Borough in 17th, dependent of course if other results go in their favour.
