Five Things We Learned - w/e Saturday 20th August 2016

Solid start from Irlam
When a team gets promoted, there can often be a spell early on while players adjust to the demands of playing at a higher level, but Irlam don't appear to be experiencing any problems so far.
Two wins and two draws from their opening four league games is a good start to any season for any side, and Steve Nixon's men are certainly looking like they will make the transition from Division One into the Premier Division a seamless one.
Four out of four for the Purples
Out of all the new clubs to join our league this season, City of Liverpool have made the most impressive start, with a 100% record after four league games.
With over 400 spectators turning up to both of their two home games, and 11 goals scored so far, it looks like all is progressing well so far both on and off the field for the Purples, and the challenge now will be to keep the momentum going.
Another good FA Cup win on the road for Town
One of the eye catching results of the weekend was Cheadle Town's 4-2 win at Northwich Victoria of the Evo-Stik League Division One South.
It's the second FA Cup triumph on the road this season for Terry Hincks' men, following on from their win at Penistone Church in the previous round, and with a tie in the next round at Trafford from the Evo-Stik League Division One North, Town will once again be looking for a good pay day from a cup away day.
Away trips agree with the Blues
Another team to record an impressive win on the road on Saturday were Winsford United, who won 6-1 at Alsager Town in the FA Cup.
Out of the four games that Lee Duckworth's men have played so far, they have won all three of their matches away from home, with their only home game, against Abbey Hey in the league, ending in defeat.
If the Blues can deliver performances at Barton Stadium to match those on the road so far, they will be a tough nut to crack this season.
Late show from Alfred
Sandbach United have been in decent form in the past week, following up a 4-2 win at St Helens Town on Thursday evening with a 3-2 win over Daisy Hill on Saturday, coming back from being 2-1 down with nine minutes remaining.
One other noteworthy point from both games was that United's Alfred Hammond played a key role late on in securing the points for Town.
In both games, he scored in the 90th minute to make the points safe for Town, an unusual statistic for any goalscorer, and certainly sends out a message to future opponents that Alfred is a man to keep an eye on right up until the final blast of the referee's whistle.
