The games are coming thick and fast in the Hallmark Security League Division One and already the division is starting to shape up.

This weekend’s action starts on Friday evening as City of Liverpool FC host Stockport Town at the Delta Taxi's Stadium. The Purples have got off to a flying start, played three and won three and second on goal difference behind Remyca. CoLFC travelled to Ashton Town in midweek and came away with a decent looking win at Edge Green Street with the only goal of the game keeping their 100% record in-tact. Stockport Town have lost one and won one so far this season, that win coming at home last Saturday with an impressive looking win over Carlisle City.

FC Oswestry face Widnes at Park Hall this weekend with both clubs having got off to a solid start. Both sides are used to the 3G surface and in good form so far so this promises to be a decent match up.

St Helens Town have had a busy week and that continues as they play a second game in three days having played at their temporary home in Prescot on Thursday night against Sandbach United they then travel to top of the table Litherland Remyca. Phil Stafford’s Remyca have got off to a solid start and they were delighted to win against their bogey side at Eccleshall last weekend but this looks likely to be their toughest test so far against a well organised St Helens side who are building momentum as they look towards a return to their home town in October.

Sandbach will welcome Daisy Hill on Saturday for their second home game of the season and like St Helens, their second game in three days. Sandbach have not started as well as the other new clubs at this point but have been playing some good football and have been there or thereabouts in each game they have played. Last Saturday they recorded a good away win at Atherton LR with Crilly Park a difficult place to go to so they will be looking to continue that momentum. Buoyed by a 2-1 win at home against Holker last Monday Daisy Hill will be looking for the three points to continue their push into the top six.

Ashton Town face AFC Blackpool at the Ashton Town Stadium, both of these sides having had a disappointing start given the high expectations for them both, from observers and probably themselves. Ashton did show signs of improvement in mid-week running City of Liverpool very close and creating a number of chances so they will see this as an opportunity to push further and to get their first points on the board. Stuart Parker will be looking to tighten Blackpool’s defence having conceded nine goals in their three league games so far, they have been scoring though so from a Blackpool perspective they have something to build on.

Holker will be looking to put their disappointment of defeat at Daisy Hill behind them as they host Eccleshall at Rakesmoor. Holker are just outside the play-off positions and well positioned to make an assault on the upper echelons of the table having made a much better start than last season. Eccleshall have not recorded a point so far and will be looking to rectify this up in Cumbria but will face a strong Holker side. Memories of last seasons disappointing start will be fresh in the mind of the visitors as they couldn’t really find their feet until well into the campaign so three points for them is a must.

Prestwich Heys have had a historic week with work starting on the installation of floodlights at Adie Moran Park and with things steady on the field with a win and a draw in their last couple of games, scoring seven goals in the process things are looking good for Heys who face Silsden this weekend. James Gill’s Silsden have looked solid on the park, a 6-0 win at Ashton Town last Saturday was followed by a narrow 0-1 reverse to Charnock Richard on Tuesday. On paper this looks a tough game for both sides but an entertaining one nonetheless.

On the subject of Charnock Richard, they travel to Whitchurch Alport in a mouth watering fixture. Both clubs in the top six and both having had good starts and both having had good results up to now. Alport lost last time out up at Holker but report no injuries in the run up to the game whilst Charnock Richard also seem to have a full squad to choose from.

Chadderton are a side in form at the moment which probably isn’t good news for this weekend’s opponents, Atherton LR. Fifth placed Chadderton are unbeaten in three scoring nine goals in the process whilst Laburnum Rovers have had a stuttering start and will be looking to get their foot down on to the gas and start making in-roads up the table,

Carlisle City welcome Bacup Borough to Gillford Park with the sky blues getting off to a good start to life in the Hallmark Security League. Two wins from three games including a good win at AFC Blackpool in midweek sees them neatly placed in the table whilst Bacup will be looking to continue to climb the table to get out of the starting blocks quicker than they did last season.

So despite the FA Cup trying to steal the spotlight this weekend, there are plenty of decent looking fixtures for Division One to hold its own when it comes to game appeal.
