1874 Northwich will play in their first ever cup final this coming Monday evening, 18th April, when they face Witton Albion at Wincham Park in the final of the Mid-Cheshire Cup.

The Greens beat Barnton on Monday evening at Townfield to clinch their place in the final, and as it transpired, they didn't have long to wait for the chance to lift some silverware.

Discussions began about a suitable date immediately after the game on Monday, and as 1874 Secretary Vicki England explained, this coming Monday was the most suitable date.

"The local FA asked if we could play before April 23, which is the end of Albion's season", said Vicki.

"We've mutually agreed Monday at Wincham Park, which is not ideal, however we're almost as sure as we can be that the game will go ahead that night, as the pitch is in good condition.

"We could have agreed to play it on Thursday 5th May, but that would have been at Winsford.

"Given there could be further postponements over the next week or so, we could potentially be looking at a rearranged game for that night, so it makes sense to fit it in where we can now".

The game at Wincham Park kicks off at 7.45 pm, and admission is £6 adults, £4 concessions and £1 for Under 15's.
