Mid-Cheshire Cup Semi-Final - Barnton 0 1874 Northwich 1

A first half goal from Ryan Jackson earned 1874 Northwich a place in the Mid-Cheshire Cup final, after a hard fought game against Barnton at Townfield.
It was a historic victory for the Greens, who can now look forward to a first ever cup final in their short history, with Witton Albion awaiting them in the final.
It was a game that both sides had struggled to fit in to a busy run in of fixtures, but in the end, 1874 will be delighted that they took the decision to play the game just 24 hours before the scheduled home league game against AFC Darwen.
The first ever competitive meeting between the Cheshire neighbours was a close fought affair, and played against a background of heavy rain in the second half.
The decisive goal arrived three minutes before half time, when Ryan Jackson fired home from the edge of the Barnton box, after good work from Matthew Beadle.
Early in the second half, Stuart Wellstead came close for 1874 with an effort that just sneaked past the post, and just before the hour a Ryan Jackson free kick was nearly deflected into his own net by Barnton's Michael Burke
But in the end, one goal was enough for Ian Street's men, and they will now look to follow in the recent footsteps of landlords Winsford United, who won the same competition two years in succession in 2013 and 2014, with wins over Northwich Victoria and Congleton Town at the Barton Stadium.
