Premier Division side Warrington Rylands are on their way to Wembley!

Many congratulations to all involved at Warrington Rylands who put in a strong performance in their 2-1 semi-final win over Walsall Wood today.  Rylands had gone ahead midway through the first half when Kane Drummond finished off an eccellent counter attack by rounding the Walsall Wood keeper and then slotting home into an empty net.  They had beencompetent but not threatening for most of the first half whilst Walsall Wood also carried a real threat.  By the time the interval came though there was a general feeling around the officials from the home side that they were good value for it.

In the second half Rylands remained in the ascendancy and nearly went further ahead on 47 minutes when the ball broke to Elliott Nevitt who fired just wide into the side netting.  Just a few minutes later though Nevitt had another chance when the referee awarded Rylands a penalty when Ste Milne was brought down on the edge of the box.  Nevitt stepped forward and slotted an excellent penalty into the bottom right hand corner.

For the next 40 minutes or so Rylands were relatively comfortable, efforts from Nevitt, Joe Coveney and Drummond again, who was a threat throughout, gave the West Midlands side plenty to think about.  Walsall did carry a direct threat, however they were just unable to make their last touch count, their efforts going wide with one later on hitting the bar.

Whilst Rylands were waiting for their date with destiny to be fconfirmed there were a couple of uncomfortable minutes for them as Walsall Wood pulled a goal back on 90+2 minutes when substitute Tom Towks curled a superb effort into the right hand side of the net, leaving the keeper pretty much rooted to the spot.

The clock eventually ran down and the referee blew the full time whistle and the players, officials and volunteers alike all ran on to the pitch to gently tap elbows to celebrate the biggest win in the clubs history...... so far!

Congratulations to every one at the club, a great occasion and they have done themselves proud.  Onwards to Wembley!  They face Binfield FC next Saturday lunchtime at the home of football.
