The NWCFL midweek started on Monday evening with just the one game - AFC Liverpool coasted to a 4-1 away win at Daisy Hill in the NWCFL First Division North - moving up to second in the standings.
Just 24 hours later, there was plenty of action up and down the region. Bootle held off Skelmersdale United 3-1 to book a place in the Liverpool Senior Cup Semi-Final, whilst New Mills narrowly lost 2-1 to Belper in the Derbyshire Senior Cup - Benito Lowe initially gifting Mills the lead but two quick goals from Belper turned the tie on its head.
The game of the midweek was undoubtedly between 1874 Northwich and Longridge Town. Tom Ince initially put Longridge in front before Matthew Woolley equalised just before the break. Richard Seear bagged to once again put Longridge in front, and just as the home fans were fumbling for their car keys, two quick-fire late goals from Jack Tinning and Scott McGowan sparked jubilant scenes as Wayne Goodison's side went seven points clear at the top of the standings.
Garstang moved up to 15th in the table following a 2-1 away win at Ashton Town in the First Division North, whilst over at Atherton LR, Shelley moved level on points with second place AFC Liverpool following a superb 4-0 win - Matt Waller taking home the match ball following his hat-trick.
Meanwhile, in the First Division South, Karl Noon bagged a brace as Vauxhall Motors continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Sandbach United.
Just two games took place on Wednesday evening - with mixed fortunes for our NWCFL sides. FC Oswestry Town advanced to the TJ Vickers Premier Cup Final after a 5-0 victory over Wellington Amateurs, whilst Prestwich Heys were defeated by Bamber Bridge 9-0.
The action returns on Friday evening when the 2020 Groundhop starts with Alsager Town travelling to Sandbach United, whilst in the First Division North, AFC Liverpool host Bacup Borough and Golcar United entertain Steeton (at Avro).
