A Boxing Day bonanza of Step 6 action took place on Thursday with over 2,200 fans watching up and down the region in the NWCFL First Division North and South.
The top two in the Northern section battled out a superb 3-3 draw. AFC Liverpool took an early lead, but Lower Breck came from behind to lead 3-2 at the break. The tie looked like it was heading Breck's way, but Kyle Schorah popped up in the 90th minute to equalise and share the spoils.
A superb crowd of 346 saw a brilliant derby battle between Emley AFC and Shelley, but it was the visitors who took the bragging rights away from the Fantastic Media Welfare ground as they won 3-1.
Just 20 miles separate Chadderton and Golcar United, but it was the home side who was all smiles come full-time - winning 2-1 with 115 watching on.
The day of Derbies continued at Atherton LR as they hosted Daisy Hill, and it was the visitors who took away the three points - Danny Warburton and Jacob Ridings scored one in each half - winning 2-0.
Holker Old Boys and Cleator Moor Celtic maybe 41.3 miles apart but as the closest geographical sides to each other, it was set up to be a Cumbrian classic. Bradley Harrison bagged a brace on a day that belonged to Craig Routledge and the men from Birks Road who won 3-1.
Steeton had a super late 1-0 win at Nelson - Kayle Price netting a 92nd-minute winner to close the gap at the bottom of the table for Roy Mason's side.
A late Christmas present for Pilkington fans came late on as they come from 2-nil down to win at home against St Helens Town - the winner coming in the 91st minute just as the 193 fans were fumbling through their pockets passed their empty sweet wrappers for their keys.
In the Southern Division, arguably the biggest game of the afternoon cam in Wythenshawe, as Town hosted Amateurs and with 455 fans packed into Ericstand Park. And it was the Town fans who could go to work this morning with the bragging rights, as Dean Warburton netted the winner with nine minutes to go winning 1-0.
A Jack Coop brace put Maine Road on their way to a 3-0 win away at West Didsbury & Chorlton, whilst Ellesmere Rangers made it two league wins in five days as they defeated Sandbach United 2-0.
Whilst in the Cheadle derby, Town narrowed the gap in the table to five points over rivals Nomads with a 3-1 win at SK8.
Vauxhall Motors increased the gap at the summit to five points, coming from 2-1 down to win 3-2 to delight their travelling support at Cammell Laird 1907.
Finally, another late winner occurred at Alsager Town, as they came from behind against Abbey Hulton United - eventually winning 3-2 - much to a delighted Stewart Tulloch on his eighth day in charge at the club.
The action returns on Saturday, with nine fixtures in the NWCFL First Division North and a full calendar of games in the NWCFL First Division South.
