There was no doubt the tie of the day in the Premier Division took place at the Silentnight Stadium were league leaders 1874 Northwich were involved in a 12-goal thriller against Barnoldswick Town, with the visitors scoring eight. Lee Knight led the charge with a hat-trick for 1874, while Scott McGowan and Callum Gardner both scoring a brace.  On the losing side, all four goals were scored by Ryan Shenton.

A last-minute Jon-Jo Morris penalty, his second of the game, gave Longridge Town a 4-3 victory over Hanley Town and saw them climb into second spot in the Premier Division after Charnock Richard lost 2-1 at Squires Gate.

Bootle moved up to fourth position after a comfortable 5-0 victory in the A59 derby at Burscough, while Irlam drop to fifth spot after their promotion ambitions took a knock with a 1-0 loss at Ashton Athletic. A solitary Freddie Potter penalty gave Rylands a 1-0 win at Avro to consolidate sixth place.

Elsewhere a Sam Madeley brace gave Winsford United a comfortable 4-1 victory at home to Litherland REMYCA, who remain rooted to the foot of the table. Runcorn Town squandered a two-goal lead at home to Congleton Town who scored twice in the final 10 minutes to earn a point, while Padiham and Northwich Victoria drew 1-1.

The shock result of the day was in the First Division North with league leaders Lower Breck going down 2-0 against lowly Garstang, with Nick Webster and Jonathan Hothersall scoring in each half for the home side.

AFC Liverpool took full advantage of their near neighbours defeat to move into second spot and reduce the lead at the top to seven points after a 4-1 win against Chadderton. AFC Blackpool are fourth after a 2-0 win at home to Ashton Town, who slip down to sixth spot. A late Danny Warburton equaliser for Daisy Hill saw them share a point from their six-goal thriller at Bacup Borough to move into fifth position.

A Zack Dale brace helped Prestwich Heys to a 3-1 victory at Steeton while AFC Darwen won by the same scoreline at Cleator Moor Celtic. St Helens Town rescued an unlikely point as they headed into injury time two goals down at home to Atherton LR, but goals in the first and fourth minute of added time drew them level.

In the First Division South, with the top two sides not in action, it was the chasing pack who had the opportunity to narrow the gap over leaders Vauxhall Motors. Stone Old Alleynians took full advantage to close the gap to three points with a crushing 5-0 victory at home to St Martins who drop to the bottom of the table as a result.

An Elliott Fenton goal twelve minutes from time gave Abbey Hey a 2-1 win over Cammell Laird 1907 to keep them fourth and in the promotion position. Eccleshall remain fifth, six points adrift of Abbey Hey thanks to a 2-0 victory at Wythenshawe Amateurs.

A last-minute penalty from Callum Collinson gave Alsager Town manager Stewart Tulloch victory in his first game in charge as his side won 2-1 at Cheadle Town. Stockport Town won by the same score at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Finally, Ellesmere Rangers gained their fourth win in six matches to move off the foot of the table with a 2-0 win at Barnton.

We now take a mini-break in the NWCFL, with a few days rest - however the action returns on Boxing day with a bumper day of action expected - 58 NWCFL sides set to work those consumed calories off.
