The opening Saturday of the month delivered 21 league fixtures across the three divisions, with the usual mix of goals and talking points.

There were seven games in the Premier Division, which all produced outright winners, and in each instance the victors kept a clean sheet.

League leaders City of Liverpool continue to set the pace at the top with a 3-0 win at Charnock Richard.

An early goal from John McGrath got the afternoon off to a good start for the Purps, and two goals either side of half time from Jack Hazlehurst rounded off a good win.

Bootle stay on the tail of their tenants, eight points behind in second place, with their 2-0 win over 1874 Northwich being achieved with first half goals from Steven Jones and Carl Peers.

Ashton Athletic moved up into sixth place with a 3-0 win over the team directly above them, Runcorn Town. A first half goal from Saul Guffog set them on the way, with Adam Gilchrist and Joshua Nicholson adding to the tally after the break.

There was a dramatic finish in the relegation clash between Hanley Town and Padiham at Potteries Park, with a 90th minute goal from Ellis Hancox clinching a crucial win for Padiham that moves them five points clear of the relegation zone.

Burscough were the highest scorers of the day, with Conor Finlayson scoring a second half hat trick in the 5-0 win at home to Barnoldswick Town.

Elsewhere, an 80th minute goal from Matty Boland saw Irlam through to a 1-0 win over Whitchurch Alport, and Dean Ing scored twice in Squires Gate's 3-0 win over Litherland REMYCA at the Brian Addison Stadium.

There was no shortage of goal action in the First Division North, with 38 goals scored in the eight games.

League leaders Longridge Town predictably led the way with an 8-1 win over bottom of the table Atherton LR, although it took until after the break for Town to stamp their authority on the game, with Richie Allen the home hero with four second half goals.

Avro remain in second place, 12 points behind but with three games in hand, after a 2-1 win at Cleator Moor Celtic.

Tom Mahone had given Celtic a half time lead from the penalty spot, but Ryan Hanson levelled for Avro, also from spot midway through the second half, before Louis Potts struck the winner 12 minutes from time.

AFC Liverpool remain in fourth place but they left it late to salvage a point from a 3-3 draw at Holker Old Boys.

The Reds were trailing 3-1 with four minutes remaining, but a Marc Stephens penalty and an equaliser from Louis Hayes in the third minute of stoppage time earned them a point.

Prestwich Heys were the biggest away winners of the day in the division, with five different scorers on target for Heys in a 5-1 win at Nelson that keeps them in fifth place.

Two goals from Anthony Hall helped Bacup Borough to a 3-2 home win over AFC Darwen, and an 85th minute own goal clinched a 2-1 win for AFC Blackpool at Carlisle City.

Jack Ward got the decisive goal in Chadderton's 1-0 win at home to Steeton, and Daisy Hill remain five points from safety in the relegation zone after going down 4-1 at Ashton Town.

Goals from Dylan Glass, Mathew Johnson and James Sigsworth had Town three up after 26 minutes and Daley Woods added another in the second half from the penalty spot before Macauley Farrington grabbed a late consolation.

A total of 26 goals were scored in six games in the First Division South, an impressive figure given that one game ended goalless.

That game was at Wellbeing Park, with the point that Stone Old Alleynians picked up against FC Oswestry Town keeping them in second place, four points behind leaders Rylands who had no game.

Wythenshawe Amateurs remain in third place despite going down 3-2 at Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Kieran Herbert for Nomads and Jordan Burton for the Ammies exchanged early goals, but James Green and Stephen Kirby then put the home side 3-1 up by half time.

Matthew Dodwell reduced the arrears with 15 minutes left, but Nomads held on to secure the points.

Abbey Hulton United remain one point and one place above Sandbach United after the sides shared a 2-2 draw at Drayton Beaumont Park.

First half goals from Kiarno Samms and Gavin Salmon set Stockport Town on the way to a 2-1 win at Maine Road, making five league wins in six games for Town.

Seven different players shared the goals for Cammell Laird 1907 in their 8-1 home win over Stone Dominoes, and Jordan Cobley struck a hat trick for Barnton in their 5-0 win at Ellesmere Rangers, results which mean that Rangers and Dominoes remain adrift in the two relegation places.
