Semi final spot for Lairds
It's been a difficult season for Cammell Laird 1907, but they did have something to cheer on Tuesday night.
The penalty shoot out win over Stockport Town clinched a place in the semi-final of the Cheshire Senior Cup, and they are certainly guaranteed a big game, as they join Runcorn Linnets, Stockport County and defending holders Nantwich Town in the last four.
The draw has yet to be made but there's no doubt that a game to look forward to awaits Lairds in the coming weeks.
Record breaking score for Cheadle Town
Cheadle Town's 13-0 win at Stone Dominoes on Saturday was noteworthy for a number of reasons.
It was only the fourth time in league history that a 13-0 score has been recorded, and ironically one of the previous occasions also involved Cheadle Town, when they lost by the same score at Clitheroe on the 27th March 2001.
It was, however, the biggest winning margin in an away game since the league began in 1982, beating the previous best away win of 10-0 set by Irlam Town at Formby on the 18th January 1986, and more recently by City of Liverpool at Stockport Town on the 31st December 2016.
Seven different players got on the scoresheet for Town, on a historic day for the club.
More Yorkshire blues at Cleator Moor Celtic
Once again, the visit of a Yorkshire club to Cleator Moor Celtic’s JBV Park proved to be a memorable one.
On the Saturday before Christmas, Shelley were the visitors and Celtic's 3-1 lead in the 86th minute was overturned by three goals in three minutes to give Shelley a 4-3 lead.
However, Callum Birdsall struck an equaliser for Celtic in the third minute of stoppage time.
Last Saturday, it was the turn of Steeton to make the trip to Cumbria, and once again spectators witnessed a goal fest and a grandstand finish. Steeton led 4-3 in the 88th minute only for Tom Mahone to level the game at 4-4 with a penalty before Darren Little struck a stoppage time winner.
No doubt to the chagrin of the locals, there are no more scheduled visits from any other Yorkshire clubs to JBV Park this season.
Six of the best for Road
It's certainly been a Happy New Year for Maine Road, who have been transformed since Ray Barnett and Jeff Newman took charge at the turn of the year.
After winning the club of the month award in January, the wins have kept on coming, and Saturday's 4-0 defeat of Alsager Town means they have now clicked up six straight victories.
With four of their next five games at home, in their ccurrent form you wouldn't bet against Road's winning run continuing.
Breck back on track
After a wobble towards the end of January, it looks like Lower Breck are back in business.
Back to back defeats against Holker Old Boys and Prescot Cables in the cup saw then ship ten goals, but since then, the picture has looked much brighter.
Saturday's win over Chadderton means it's now three wins and a draw from the last four games, and they have scored 21 goals in the process.
They now sit comfortably in third place in the First Division North table, and looking good to keep the pressure on Longridge Town and Avro in the latter part of the season.
7 wins 1 draw 1 defeat from the 9 league games so far in 2019
