Bacup Borough - following the devastation at the Brian Boys West View Stadium by Storm Erik last week, club stalwart Debra O’Connor has started a fund to help raise money to repair the changing room block that was damaged in the storm.
The damage to the changing facilities will cost thousands of pounds to repair, and the target is that £2000 is raised to help repair the damaged changing room facilities that are used both by the first team and youth team members.
Donations can be made to Debra's JustGiving Crowdfunding Page by clicking here.
Stone Old Alleynians - Persimmon Homes West Midlands has donated £750 to the club through its Community Champions project.
Each month the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 each to two groups or individuals through the match-funded scheme.
Club spokesman Neil Arrowsmith said: “Our financial commitments can be rather a millstone around our necks and we are delighted that Persimmon Homes West Midlands chose to support us in this way.”
Stephen Cleveley, director-in-charge for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: ““We strongly believe in supporting the communities where we build, and are delighted to be able to support grassroot sports through our Community Champions scheme. It is clear the football club provides great sporting opportunities and heritage for the local community.
Ashton Athletic - the club hosted a charity fund raising game last Friday night for local man Danny Seddon.
Dan is a young 20 year old man who has just recently been diagnosed with a form of cancer called ependymoma. He has had two spinal operations to remove tumors and he is now undergoing radiotherapy. The match at Brocstedes Park was one of a number of fund raising events being held to to help with any treatment or needs that he may have in the future.
