The final weekend of January delivered the usual mixture of interesting results, with the main headline coming in the Premier Division.

City of Liverpool's run of five win in a row came to end at home to Silsden, with the Cobbydalers heading back to Yorkshire with a 2-1 win under their belts.

An own goal in the 55th minute turned out to be the winner, after Daniel Dalton had cancelled out Daniel Illingworth's opener for Silsden.

The Purps' slip up gave an opportunity for those chasing to narrow their lead at the top, which is now 11 points over second places Bootle following the Bucks' 3-2 win at Abbey Hey.

Bootle certainly didn't have a comfortable afternoon though, going behind to a Peter Watling goal on 22 minutes.  Liam Loughlin then struck twice, once from the penalty spot, to give the Bucks the lead with eight minutes remaining but when Deven Golden equalised two minutes from time it seemed Abbey had rescued a point.

But Kieran Halligan struck in the second minute of stoppage time to pinch the points for the visitors.

Congleton Town remain in third place, although they had to settle for a point in a 3-3 home draw with Charnock Richard.

In a ding-dong affair, Emini Adegbenro and Paul Speed gave the Bears a two goal lead, but Charnock levelled through Oliver Oxley and Carl Grimshaw.

Paul Speed then put Congleton ahead with eight minutes left, but Carl Grimshaw then hit back with his second of the game to earn his side a draw.

It was also honours even at the Pavilions, with Runcorn Town and Barnoldswick Town sharing a 2-2 draw.

Danny Brynes and Francois Antoine scored for the home side with Zack Dale and Shaun Airey replying for the visitors.

Ashton Athletic continued their great run of form, with their 4-2 win at Burscough being their seventh in succession, with Josh Nicolson's hat trick taking him on to 18 goals for the season.

That win moved the Yellows up to fifth place, one point and one place above Northwich Victoria, who won 2-0 at home to Whitchurch Alport with goals from Brandon Barski and Darryhl Mason.

Vics' local rivals 1874 Northwich were the highest scorers of the day in the division, with star striker Scott McGowan scoring four times in the 5-1 win over West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Elsewhere, Marcus Perry scored twice in Irlam's 3-1 win at home to Winsford United, and Squires Gate shared a 1-1 draw with Hanley Town.

The chase for top spot in the First Division North became more interesting after AFC Blackpool held league leaders Longridge Town to a 1-1 draw, while second placed Avro won 7-1 at home to Carlisle City.

Richie Allen had given Longridge a lead but Conah Bishop levelled just before half time for AFC Blackpool, while six different players were on the scoresheet for Avro in a win that brought them to within six point of Town, with two games in hand.

AFC Liverpool moved up into third place with a 3-1 home win over Shelley, in which Anthony Lyons scored twice, and Prestwich Heys are three points behind them in fourth place, with two goals from  Cory Knight helping them to a 3-0 win at Steeton.

A hat trick from Daley Woods was the highlight of Ashton Town's 6-2 win at home to Bacup Borough, with four of the Ashton goals coming in the final eight minutes.

Elliot Pond hit a hat trick in AFC Darwen's 7-1 win over St Helens Town, a result that drags Town into the relegation battle as both Holker Old Boys and Daisy Hill picked up points.

Holker Old Boys are now level on points with St Helens after their impressive 6-2 win at home to Lower Breck, with Philip Coombe notching a hat trick for the Stags, and a goal from

Hensley Mills earned Daisy Hill a 1-1 draw at Chadderton, meaning that Daisy Hill are four points behind Holker and St Helens in second bottom place.

In the other game, two goals from Gareth Hill earned Nelson a 2-1 win over Garstang.

The First Division South continues to be headed by Rylands, although their game at Wythenshawe Town was abandoned.

There are, however, four teams just one point behind Rylands, all tied on 53 points.

Stone Old Alleynians have the best goal difference and are therefore in second place, thanks to a 4-2 win at Barnton, with Jack Tomlinson hitting his third hat trick of the season.

Wythenshawe Amateurs, who didn't play, are in third place and Vauxhall Motors are fourth after their 3-1 win over Cheadle Heath Nomads, Dave Webb scoring twice for the Motormen.

Abbey Hulton United had no game, and are the final team of the quartet on 53 points, but Sandbach United are just five points behind in sixth, after a 6-0 win at Stone Dominoes in which Ryan Alcock scored twice.

FC Oswestry Town's David Howarth scored four times in a game for the second time this season inTown's  5-2 win in the Shropshire derby against Ellesmere Rangers, and the other Shropshire side in the division, St Martins, fell to a 3-0 defeat at Eccleshall.

Maine Road continued their climb up the table with a 3-2 win at Cheadle Town, and two goals from Kiarno Samms earned Stockport Town a 2-0 win at Alsager Town.
