Double seven up for Avro
Winning 7-0 in a game is a decent achievement at any level of football, but to do it twice in the space of just over a month is pretty good going.
Step forward Avro, who followed up their 7-0 win over Stone Dominoes just over a month ago with a win by the same score against Wythenshawe Town on Saturday.
With 22 goals in their last six games, and a total of 72 in all competition so far this season, the shooting boots are well worn in at the Vestacare Stadium.
A good week for the Bears
A run of seven successive away games would be a tough gig for anyone to contemplate, but last week it has been no problem for Congleton Town.
After a terrific 2-0 win at Altrincham in the Cheshire Senior Cup, the Bears rounded off the week with a 4-0 win at Stone Dominoes in the Macron Cup - their seventh successive win, and all away from home.
What's more, their next two games are on the road too - at Irlam on Saturday and then at Winsford United on Monday - and on current form, more away trips will be no problem for Brian Pritchard's men.
Another good away day for Irlam
Irlam are another club showing good away form at the minute, and their 5-2 win at Silsden on Saturday was notable for the fact that it's the second time in a row that they have won 5-2 away from home, following on from a victory by the same score at Squires Gate a couple of weeks ago.
That's now four away wins in a row for Michael Dodd's men, and with three out of the next four games at home - and just one win in the last three games at the Ambitek Stadium - the challenge now is to bring the away form back to home base.
Goals galore at Gillford Park
Spectators who have been attending Carlisle City home games at Gillford Park recently can't complain about not getting value for money.
Aside of the 2-0 defeat to Longridge Town in the top of the table clash at the end of last month, the other five of the last six home games have produced at least four goals, with 6, 4, 6 and 5 being scored before on Saturday, 9 goals hitting the back of the net as City beat Daisy Hill 6-3.
The bar has been set high for the home games in the coming weeks.
More Yellow cup success
On these pages in the past, we have referred to Ashton Athletic's cup exploits, and the many big cup ties they have enjoyed in recent years.
There's just one piece of cup silverware left for the Yellows to aim for this season, the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy, and they started off in fine fettle with a 5-0 win at West Didsbury & Chorlton last Tuesday in their opening tie in this season's competition.
Winners of the trophy in 2017, could this be another season of cup glory for the Yellows? Time will tell.
