A total of 32 games, 15 in the Buildbase FA Vase and 17 across the three divisions, was the offering on Non-League Day from our clubs on Saturday.

In the Buildbase FA Vase First Round, there were three all-Hallmark Security League ties, but elsewhere success was a bit harder to come by, with four other clubs progressing against opponents from other leagues, two earning replays and six exiting the competition.

The biggest winners of the day were Northwich Victoria, whose 5-0 defeat of Cammell Laird 1907 was helped in no small way by a hat trick from Brian Matthews.

At the Brian Addison Stadium, Squires Gate left it late to edge a 2-1 win over Sandbach United. The visitors had taken a 19th minute lead through Josh Lane, but Ric Seear levelled three minutes later and just as extra time was looming Brett Dawson struck a 90th minute winner for Gate.

There was a similarly dramatic finale in the all-First Division North clash at Cougar Park, where Avro came from two goals down to eventually defeat Steeton 3-2. Andrew Briggs and Aaron Hollindrake put Steeton two up inside 11 minutes, but two goals from Avro's Duncan Knott brought them back level before Joe Bevan clinched a win for the visitors in the 90th minute.

The highest scorers of the day were Prestwich Heys who beat Garforth Town 6-2 at Adie Moran Park, Rio Wilson-Heyes scoring twice for Heys, and Vauxhall Motors recorded the same winning margin in their 4-0 win over Seaham Red Star. Kevin Exell, Thomas Mitchell, Thomas Murray and Kieran Hamm were all on target for the Motormen.

Second half goals from Ryan Ledson and Liam Pollitt took Irlam to a 2-0 win over Handsworth Parramore, and Garstang needed a penalty shoot out to oust Swallownest after the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of extra time.

Runcorn Town and Silsden will be involved in midweek replays after extra time failed to separate them from their opponents.

Runcorn Town face a long trip to North Yorkshire in midweek after they were to a 3-3 draw by Guisborough Town at the Pavilions. An opener from Shaun Weaver and two goals from Ryan Cox put Town 3-1 up at half time, but two second half goals earned the visitors a replay on Wednesday evening.

Silsden will host a replay on Tuesday evening against Staveley Miners Welfare, after they shared a 2-2 draw with their Northern Counties East League opponents in Chesterfield. Will Storrie and Aidan Kirby scored for the Cobbydalers.

However, for six of our clubs, interest in the competition ended for another season.

There were 4-0 defeats for Hanley Town at Cadbury Athletic and City of Liverpool at Hebburn Town, and 1-0 defeats for Winsford United at Sporting Khalsa and at Winterton Rangers for Lower Breck.

Oliver Oxley gave Charnock Richard the lead at Hallam, but the Yorkshiremen eventually won 3-1, and Litherland REMYCA also lost to Yorkshire opposition, 4-1 at home to Thackley..

There were five games in the Premier Division, and the biggest winning margin was at Brookburn Road, where five different players got on the scoresheet for Congleton Town in the 5-0 victory over West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The win moved the Bears into fourth place, leapfrogging ahead of Barnoldswick Town who lost 2-0 on their first ever visit to Whitchurch Alport, for whom Tim Sanders scored twice in the first half.

In an entertaining affair at Brocstedes Park, Ashton Athletic shared a 2-2 draw in a late comeback against 1874 Northwich. Two first half goals from Scott McGowan put the Greens in the driving seat, but Joshua Nicholson and George Hassall struck in the last seven minutes to salvage a point for the Yellows.

There was a welcome win for Abbey Hey, whose 2-1 home over Padiham was sealed by a 76th minute penalty from Oliver Walker, and two first half goals set Burscough on the way to a 3-0 win at Bootle.

There were four games in the First Division North, and Carlisle City and Longridge Town continue to set the pace at the top after both recorded away wins.

A Rob McCartney penalty on the stroke of half time was enough to see Carlisle City to a single goal victory at Shelley, while at Bacup Borough Richie Allen struck a hat trick for Longridge Town in their 3-0 win.

A hat trick for Daniel McLaughlin saw Ashton Town to a 3-2 defeat of Chadderton, and in the other game St Helens Town's 4-2 win over Daisy Hill means that Daisy remain on the bottom of the table.

In the First Division South, Abbey Hulton United remain at the top despite going down 2-0 at Cheadle Heath Nomads, goals in each half from Leon Grandison and Ashley Crank doing the damage.

Wythenshawe Amateurs moved into second place, James Green scoring twice in the 3-1 win at Eccleshall, and Rylands moved into fourth with an impressive 6-1 defeat of New Mills at Church Lane. Steven Boothman and Stuart Wellstead both scored twice for Rylands.

There was also a five goal winning margin at the Offside Trust Stadium where Barnton scored five without reply against Maine Road, Lee Guirado grabbing a double.

Stone Old Alleynians moved into fifth place with two first half goals from Sam Wilson earning a 2-0 win at home to Stockport Town, and Alsager Town bounced back from a heavy midweek defeat to win by the same score at home to Cheadle Town.

Wythenshawe Town's 5-1 home win over Ellesmere Rangers was their biggest of the season at Ericstan Park, and James O`Reilly's goal in the 65th minute was the decisive strike in FC Oswestry Town's 2-1 win over Stone Dominoes.
