MACRON PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS

PREMIER DIVISION - TERRY CUMMINGS OF BURSCOUGH

After an impressive campaign last season, Terry has returned to Victoria Park and picked up where he left off.

Terry made over 50+ appearances and received more than 10 man of the match awards from opposing teams, and contributed to the Linnets goals tally by becoming runner up to leading scorer Chad Whyte last season.

These achievements were recognised at the end of season presentation night when he received the player’s player award and also an award for the most mom in a season, and the club also recognised his potential by offering him his first contract with the club.

Having played in 7 of the opening 8 games in August, Terry is already the leading goal scorer for the club, scoring four goals during August and has again set the pace to the rest of the squad by collecting 3 man of the match nominations in the first 5 league games.

Had nominations been in place for FA Cup ties, Terry’s nomination tally would have been higher, having turned in impressive displays in the games against 1874 Northwich and Northwich Victoria.

Terry has now started to add to his game a better understanding how to assist fellow players, and this contributed to the overall team goal tally during August, especially in the tough FA Cup ties.

Terry is still young and has the desire to listen and learn which is a rare commodity in today’s players. His colleagues now see him as a young but senior member of the team and the first name on the team sheet.

FIRST DIVISION NORTH - JONATHAN CROASDALE OF AFC LIVERPOOL

Playing at centre back and also taking on the role as Club Vice-Captain Jon was instrumental in the Reds' four straight wins during August, claiming successive man of the match awards in the away games at Daisy Hill and Nelson. By the end of the month he had picked up a total of three MOM nominations from six games played.

As well as displaying exceptional leadership qualities to marshal his teammates through tough matches, Jon was also amongst the goals during the month, after claiming a brace against Daisy Hill and popped up with the deciding goal late on against Bacup Borough.

It has been an impressive start to the season for Jon, and all the more impressive given that this is his first full season at this level, and he has made the step up look effortless.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - JOSEPH NIELD OF CHEADLE TOWN

Few people would have expected full back Joseph Neild to be top scorer at Cheadle Town and up among the leading scorers within the League, but a haul of 6 goals in 7 games has made Joseph an obvious candidate for the Division's Player of the Month in August.

Joseph, who is now in his second season with Cheadle Town, was made captain at the start of the season and he has certainly stepped up to this new challenge an impressive style.

He got his campaign off to a fine start with a goal from the penalty spot in the victory over Wythenshawe Amateurs, and consistent performances then followed in the games against New Mills, Vauxhall Motors and Stone Old Alleynians.

However, it was in the fixture away to Barnton where Joseph made the headlines with a four goal haul.

His first goal is still being debated, as to whether his 25 yard shot / cross was intended, but there was no dispute about his other goals thereafter, as he coolly slotted home all three penalties that were award to Cheadle Town.

It was no surprise that Joseph was awarded the Man of the Match accolade by the Barnton officials, and he then followed up his goalscoring exploits with a further goal in the 3-1 victory at Rylands a few days later.

Joseph is a respected member of the squad and with a great attitude and everyone at the club is hoping that he can continue the fine form he showed in August throughout the season.

REUSCH GOALKEEPER OF THE MONTH AWARDS

PREMIER DIVISION - CRAIG ELLISON OF CONGLETON TOWN

Craig helped set a new record for the Bears, who began the season with six successive victories in August and did not concede a goal in all of the 540 minutes.

The opening match was a narrow 1-0 win against newly promoted Litherland REMYCA, and with the score standing at 1-0 with 10 minutes to go, Craig pulled of an outstanding save, diving full length to turn aside a goal bound free kick from Colin Quirk that the player and many other thought was a certain goal. That gave the Bears defenders a great deal of confidence and was worth 2 points saved.

He went one better in the next match, a 3-0 home win against Ashton Athletic, saving a penalty late in the first half with the score at 2-0. An FA Cup tie at home to Eccleshill United ended 1-0 to the Bears with Craig making an early save acrobatically diving across goal to tip over a great effort. As with all games up to this point, Craig had built confidence by competent handling, clear and confident calling and great positional sense.

He carried on the form in the remaining matches in the month, which saw the Bears win away at Squires Gate and Handsworth Parramore before rounding off the month's fixtures with a 3-0 win at home to Bootle.

In a record breaking start to the season for the club, Craig has more than played his part in a fine run of six victories and six clean sheets, and is a worthy winner of the August award.

FIRST DIVISION NORTH - ALEX CAMERON OF AFC BLACKPOOL

Alex joined AFC Blackpool at the start of this season, and has quickly settled in as the first choice keeper at the club.

He is a ‘modern’ style of goalkeeper, standing at over 6 foot tall and sweeps up really well behind his defence. His ability to play the ball out from the back, and his athletic nature means he really is a joy to watch.

Out of the seven games he played in August, Alex kept four clean sheets and won man of the match nominations in two of those matches, playing an important role in a good start to the season for the club, in which they lost just once in seven games during August.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - MARTIN BLAIN OF WYTHENSHAWE AMATEURS

Martin has been a valuable asset to Wythenshawe Amateurs in their first venture into the Hallmark Security League, with the club’s third place position at the end of August having a lot to do with the performances of their versatile goalkeeper.

Out of the six games played, Martin kept three clean sheets and played his part in a good run of form that saw the club win four out of six games.

Martin only conceded three goals during the month, and none were directly his fault, and without vital saves in three of the games that ended in victories, Wythenshawe would have dropped valuable points.

Overall, it's been a good start for Martin, and winning the award is appropriate recognition for a fine opening month in a new league.
