The headline game of the day finished in disappointment for 1874 Northwich, whose interest in the Buildbase FA Vase Semi Final ended with a second leg defeat to Thatcham Town of the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, 1874 fell to a 3-2 defeat in front of 1693 spectators at Wincham Park, losing 4-2 on aggregate.

In the Premier Division, the top two of Runcorn Linnets and Widnes were inactive, and Hanley Town moved into third place with a 2-1 win over Bootle.

All the goals came in the opening half hour with Neville Thompson opening the scoring for Hanley in the 8th minute, Andrew Gillespie levelling eight minutes later, before Joshua Thorpe struck what turned out to be the winner.

Runcorn Town are fourth after Mark Reed's goal gave them a 1-0 home win over Abbey Hey, but Charnock Richard lost ground on those above them and are sixth after going down 3-1 at Squires Gate.

Two goals from Gary Pett and one from Max Rothwell sealed victory for Gate, with the familiar name of Carl Grimshaw on the score sheet for Charnock.

City of Liverpool FC continued their recent good form and moved into seventh place with a 2-1 win at home to Ashton Athletic.

Joseph Camozzi and Jack Hazlehurst were on target for the Purps after Dale Korie-Butler had give Athletic a 19th minute lead.

Winsford United rounded off a good week with a 2-1 win at Padiham, Michael Koral and Callum Gardner from the penalty spot sealing the win for the Blues, and it was the same score at West Didsbury & Chorlton, with goals from Ben Steer and Joe Shaw earning a welcome win for West over Congleton Town.

In the relegation zone, Irlam gave their survival chances a big boost with a 4-1 win at Northwich Victoria, Matty Boland contributing a hat trick.

Burscough dropped further into trouble after losing 3-2 at home to AFC Liverpool. Christopher Brady, James Howell and Callum Edgar were on target for the Reds, while Chad Whyte scored both goals for Burscough.

Two goals apiece for Jonathan Mason and Jack Coop helped Maine Road to a 4-2 win at Barnoldswick Town, although Road remain in the relegation zone, four points from safety.

In the battle of the bottom two, AFC Darwen lost 3-1 at home to Barnton, with Christopher Bandell scoring all three of the visitors' goals.

In Division One, Silsden AFC maintained their four point lead over Litherland REMYCA at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Stockport Town, although they left it late with Aiden Kirby and Mateusz Tomas scoring in the final eight minutes.

Meanwhile, Litherland REMYCA kept up the pressure with a 2-0 home win over Cheadle Town, Alex Ryan and Jason McShane on target.

Whitchurch Alport stay tucked in behind the top two after a 5-1 win over Nelson at Yockings Park, Nicky Porter scoring twice and Joe Howell, Lee Pickerill and Harry Parkinson all contributing a goal apiece.

Prestwich Heys rounded off a good week with a third straight home win, this time by 3-0 over Eccleshall. Christopher Baguley, Ashley Stott and Johnathan Main were on target and Heys are now fourth with plenty of games in hand on those above them.

Two goals from Jordan Davies in the final 11 minutes saw Sandbach United through to a 2-1 win over Carlisle City, a win that keeps United in fifth place.

A second half equaliser from Dave Harry earned Alsager Town a 2-2 draw at home to Chadderton which keeps the Bullets' hopes of a play off place alive, and anyone who decided to leave Crilly Park early before the end of the Atherton LR v AFC Blackpool game made a bad decision.

With ten minutes to go LR led 1-0, with two minutes to go Blackpool led 3-2 and then goals in stoppage time from Bradley Aspinall and Nathan Randall clinched an incredible 4-3 win for LR.

Elsewhere, an own goal 15 minutes from time was decisive in St Helens Town's 3-2 win at Bacup Borough, Kieron Ball's goal 11 minutes from time earned Abbey Hulton United a 1-0 win at New Mills, and John-Paul Stanway scored twice for Holker Old Boys in the 3-0 win at Daisy Hill.
