City of Liverpool FC have announced that Fazakerley born and raised Kevin Owens is to join the club’s #ProjectL10 board in an architectural advisory capacity.

Kevin is literally a world class designer and with his London based architectural firm WilsonOwenOwens, was the Head of Design for London 2012, and recently Liverpool’s 2022 Commonwealth Games bid.

The team is currently in the final stages of design for AFC Wimbledon’s New Plough Lane Stadium project and is working with both Everton FC and Burnley FC on major projects, amongst many other football and sports related commissions.

Upon hearing about The Purps’ opportunity to regenerate Fazakerley Playing Fields in conjunction with Liverpool City Council, Kevin made contact via club Director Cathy Long to offer his assitance in a completely voluntary capacity.

Like the rest of the volunteers at COLFC, Kevin simply wants to help his local community and specifically his neighbourhood of Fazakerley, where his parents and relatives still live.

Chairman of City of Liverpool, Paul Manning said: “Kevin is a great addition to our project team and simply wants to bring his expertise and experience to share, on behalf of City of Liverpool FC and his own community in Fazakerley, where he still holds strong family ties”.

“Having a man of Kevin’s calibre working on the project with us, simply cannot do anything other than strengthen our ability to deliver an outstanding business case to Liverpool City Council and assuming we are successful, deliver a superb community football hub for the whole city.”

Kevin said: “The vision of City of Liverpool FC and this project is exactly what we are about. We’re looking forward to help deliver the project’s transformational vision for both the club and the local community of Fazakerley. It’s great to play our role on home turf.”
