Cameron fund raiser at the Purps v Bucks derby clash

City Of Liverpool FC were delighted to be able to assist with a very important fundraising event on Tuesday night at their 'Tenants v Landlords' fixture at home to Bootle FC.
Gary Johansen, City of Liverpool’s Media Director explained: "One of our fans, Allison Pendleton, brought this to our attention the other week, and asked if there was any way that we could help out, and we were only to pleased to be able to do so".
The fundraiser was on behalf of 11 year old Cameron Rowley, who in 2015 was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer called DSRCT, which only affects 2-3 people out of every 500,000 worldwide.
What makes the situation all the more difficult for Cameron’s family, is that his Mum Jacqueline has also been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Gary added: "Allison's friends, Andy and Stacey Laird, have been fundraising on behalf of Cameron and his family, so we arranged for them and their team to do a bucket collection at the turnstiles and in the clubhouse at the match.
"Both clubs had advertised the fundraising event on their social media sites, so it was great that both sets of supporters joined together to support this collection"
Stacey Laird said "We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone at City of Liverpool for the warm welcome that they gave to us.
"Everybody was very generous and we raised a massive £239 which is a great start to the Cameron Cup competition fund, which will obviously go a big way to helping Cameron, his mum Jacqueline and the family at this really difficult time. Thank you to the supporters of both City of Liverpool and Bootle for their hospitality and generosity".
Stacey and husband Andy have also helped to organise "The Cameron Cup", a fund raising 5-a-side football competition which will take place on Sunday 28th January at 12 noon, at Park Lane in Liverpool.
If anyone can help them out with donations, sponsorship, prizes for raffles etc, please contact them on their gofundme page by clicking here.
