Purps fan Kelsea in Big Sleep Out for charity

City of Liverpool recently held another fundraising bucket collection at their home match against Barnoldswick Town, to help raise funds and awareness for a local homeless charity.
Media Director Gary Johansen explained: "One of our supporters, Kelsea Conway, wanted to fundraise on behalf of The Whitechapel Centre for the Homeless, as she is due to take part in The Big Sleep Out event this month, to raise funds for the charity.
"A total of £137 was raised on the day, and Kelsea will be donating this and any sponsorship she receives to this great cause".
Gary added: "It's a real credit to Kelsea for organising this fundraising event, and she has raised funds for other worthy causes in the past also.
"Like all major cities around the country, Liverpool has seen a massive increase in homelessness and rough sleepers. As a community football club, City of Liverpool hold a foodbank collection at every home match anyway, which is always well supported, so it's no surprise to see our fans support Kelsea in this event".
Kelsea (pictured below) said: "I was made up with the support and donations from my fellow Purps. I'm doing the Big Sleep Out with family and friends in order to raise awareness of the awful conditions lots of vulnerable people face all year round, but obviously, it's even more critical this time of year as the weather conditions worsen.
"Homelessness and financial difficulties are not always brought about by alcohol or drug misuse, as a lot of people seem to think. It can literally happen to anyone. All it takes is a run of bad luck or a change in personal circumstances"
The Big Sleep Out will be taking place in Liverpool on Friday 13th October, with all monies raised going to The Whitechapel Centre.
Kelsea added: "I hope that by doing this fundraiser, I can play my part in helping to raise awareness and much needed funds for the people who need it the most.
I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can help, even just a little bit, and I think everyone who can help should. In the past I've donated clothes and toiletries to the Whitechapel Centre, items that are desperately needed, and I'm fully behind what they do in trying to help and assist the most vulnerable in our City"
