Ashton Athletic and Barnoldswick Town booked places in the Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round, while six more of our sides face midweek replays, after an exciting weekend of action in the Preliminary Round ties.
The foundations for Ashton Athletic's 4-2 win over Runcorn Linnets at Brocstedes Park were laid in the first half, with an early goal from Joel Brownhill and two in four minutes from Dale Korie-Butler giving the Yellows a 3-0 half time lead.
Meanwhile, at the Silentnight Stadium Barnoldswick Town's Aaron Hollindrake gave his side a half time lead over Dunston UTS of the Northern League, which was cancelled out by an equaliser soon after half time. But Daniel Boyle's 85th minute strike sealed a 2-1 win and a place in the next round for the first time for Barlick.
At least two more of our sides will also progress to the next round, as replays are required in two all-Hallmark Security League.
There was an exciting end to the game involving 1874 Northwich and West Didsbury & Chorlton, with the home side scoring twice in the last five minutes through Kyle Riley and Jack Pritchard to earn a 3-3 draw.
Meanwhile, there will be another South Manchester derby on Monday night when Maine Road host Abbey Hey, with the sides having drawn 2-2 at the Abbey Stadium. A Maine Road equaliser from Connor Hughes four minutes from time set up the return encounter.
Two sides earned creditable away draws at the homes of Evo-Stik League opponents. On Friday evening in front of a bumper crowd, Prescot Cables were held to a 2-2 draw by City of Liverpool, with John Connolly and Karl Noon on target for the Purples and an 85th minute equaliser from Terry Cummings earned a 1-1 draw and a replay for Burscough at Radcliffe Borough.
However, five of our clubs exited the competition after falling to away defeats.
After going two down, goals from Emini Adegbenro and Declan Fletcher gave Congleton Town some hope at Hyde United before eventually losing 4-2, and Seb Julien grabbed a late consolation goal as Runcorn Town lost 2-1 at Frickley Athletic.
In the three other ties, all our sides lost 2-0, with Leek Town overcoming Cammell Laird 1907, Alvechurch seeing off Hanley Town, and Penistone Church doing similarly against Litherland REMYCA.
In the Premier Division, Charnock Richard sit at the top of the table with nine points from three games after a 5-2 home win over Squires Gate, ni which Carl Grimshaw and Luke Gibson both scored twice.
The familiar name of Ryan Cox is once again at the top of the League's goalscoring tables after he hit four in Bootle's 5-0 win over Barnton, and Winsford United romped into a three goal lead after 35 minutes away to Northwich Victoria with Callum Gardner, Scott Taylor and Daniel Kerr all hitting the back of the net. Damien Skolorzynski added another in the 65th minute to round off a 4-0 win.
Second half goals from Matthew Allen and Nicholas Happle earned AFC Darwen their first points of the season and a 2-0 home win over AFC Liverpool.
In the First Division, Whitchurch Alport and Silsden occupy the top two positions, with both having three wins out three.
Simon Everall contributed two goals in Alport's 3-0 win over Stockport Town at Yockings Park, while Niall Sultan's 43rd minute strike proved to be decisive for Silsden in the 1-0 win at Carlisle City.
Prestwich Heys were the highest scorers of the day, with Daniel White netting a hat trick in the 5-2 win over FC Oswestry Town at Adie Moran Park, and Abbey Hulton United recorded their second successive Saturday away win, with two goals from Kieron Ball helping them to a 3-2 win over Holker Old Boys.
Second half goals from Wayne Morrison and Matthew Bryan ensured a 2-1 win for Bacup Borough at AFC Blackpool that moved them into third place, ahead of Alsager Town on goal difference, who had to rely on an 86th minute equaliser from Ryan Goodwin to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Sandbach United.
Elsewhere, George Blackwell scored twice as New Mills won 3-1 against Eccleshall at Church Lane, and Cheadle Town and Daisy Hill shared the only goalless draw of the day.
Action below from the game between Prestwch Heys and FC Oswestry Town at Adie Moran Park. Oswestry’s Brendon Price leaves Dylan Moth grounded. Dim Slaven and Joshua Sumner are looking on.
