1874 Northwich are looking to end the season on a high by capturing some silverware, as they prepare to face Northwich Victoria in the final of the Mid-Cheshire Cup at the St Luke's Barton Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Greens are the present holders of the trophy, winning it for the first time last season with a memorable 3-0 win over Witton Albion at Wincham Park, two goals from Matthew Beadle and one from Craig Farnworth.

Now, they have the chance to retain the trophy at the expense of their old rivals, having already struck a psychological blow earlier in the season when they beat Vics 2-0 in the Cheshire Senior Cup, Tom Bailey scoring both goals.

Joint-manager Paul Bowyer says everyone at the club is looking forward to the game.

"Everyone's eager to end the season on a high and retain the Mid Cheshire Cup which we won for the first time in our short history last year, beating Witton Albion 3-0 in the final.

"We're aware of the tough task we face against Northwich Vics in this year's final and the pleasing thing from mine and Wayne's point of view is that everyone in the squad has played over the Easter period.

"There have been some very pleasing performances, particularly from some of the younger members of the squad.

"The support has been fantastic all season but especially in the past 10 games, and we're hoping for a good turnout on Tuesday night to help cheer the lads onto victory."

The game kicks off at 7.45 pm, and admission is £6 for adults, £4 for concessions, and admission will be free for under 16s.
