Liverpool Senior Cup Semi-Final - Bootle 1 Prescot Cables 5

Bootle crashed out of the Liverpool Senior Cup after they were well beaten by Evo-Stik North side Prescot Cables at the Delta Taxis Stadium.
The Bucks had already beaten Marine and Tranmere Rovers to reach the last four, but another cup upset was a step too far for Joe Doran's side who were comfortably beaten on the night.
In a frantic opening, both sides traded chances, with Ryan Jones in the Bootle goal denying Josh Dolling after the midfielder had connected with Joe Faux's low cross.
While at the other end, Ste Jones and Carl Peers both fired at Marcus Burgess in the Prescot goal.
But on twenty five minutes the visitors broke the deadlock. Lloyd Dean advanced down the Bootle right before crossing for Dolling who toe poked the ball into the top corner of Jones' net.
Two minutes later, and things got even worse for the Bucks when the visitors doubled their lead. Andy Scarisbrick pounced on a lose ball before driving into the Bootle box and unleashing a low drive that was parried into his own net by Jones.
Cables continued to dominate with Jones producing a fine double save to keep the score at two. First he denied Dominic Reid with a low save, before pushing Dean's follow up away for a corner.
To their credit, however, Bootle rallied and got themselves back in the game when Michael Ordish's cross shot looped over Burgess and into the top corner of the net.
The Bucks now had their tails up and were denied an equaliser when Burgess denied Carl Peers. The Bucks midfielder advanced clear of the Cables backline but the onrushing Burgess brilliantly blocked Peers' effort.
Bootle started the second half brightly, with Burgess denying Peers with another block, before the Cables keeper made a flying save to deny Ste Jones.
But what transpired in the next ten minutes was a devastating blow for the Bucks Senior Cup hopes, as Prescot wrapped the game up with three goals in a ruthless act of finishing.
First, Dale Wright curled a free kick into the bottom corner of Jones' net from 25-yards.
Before four minutes later, Dean turned home Faux's cross after the winger raced clear down the left.
Cables sealed their place in the final against Southport, when Faux walked through the Bootle defence before finishing confidently past Jones.
