The quest for league points continued apace at the weekend, with the competition at the top and bottom of both divisions remaining intense.

In the Premier Division, Bootle kept their place at the top of the table with a 7-1 win at Cammell Laird 1907, in which Steven Jones, Liam Loughlin and Carl Peers all scored twice for the Bucks.

Atherton Collieries are level on points with Bootle but behind on goal difference after their 4--0 win at Congleton Town.

The game was in the bag by half time with goals from Mark Battersby, David Sherlock and Neil Chappell giving a Colls a three goal lead after 36 minutes and a fourth from Henoc Mukendi 12 minutes from time wrapped up the win.

1874 Northwich moved into third place after their 1-0 home win over Hanley Town, Sam Hind's gaol just after the restart proving to be decisive, and Runcorn Town lost a little bit of ground after being held to a 2-2 draw at Padiham.

Goals from Kevin Exell and Joe Holt had Town two up early in the second half, but goals in the last seven minutes from James Dean and Jake Townsend rescued a point for the Storks.

Runcorn Linnets kept in touch with the top four and moved level on points with their town rivals after a 2-0 triumph over Barnoldswick Town.  First half goals from Adam Wade and Mark Houghton secured the win.

Two goals from Adam Gilchrist saw Ashton Athletic through to a 2-1 win at Abbey Hey, and goals from Kiel Lonsdale, Karl Turner and Liam Cole delivered a 3-0 victory and a welcome first win of the year for AFC Darwen at the expense of West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Jamie Roe's goal just before half time proved to be decisive in Maine Road's 2-1 win at Squires Gate, and two goals in the last 18 minutes from Barnton's Jason McShane earned the Villagers a 2-1 win at AFC Liverpool.

There was also a late turnaround at Irlam, where the home side were leading until a Kyle Riley penalty in the 75th minute pulled Winsford United back on level terms, and a 3-1 win for the visitors was sealed by two goals in the last six minutes from Brandon Moores.

The highest scoring match of the day was at Little Wembley, with a Jason Hart hat trick the highlight of Nelson's 7-4 win over New Mills, which moved the Admirals above their opponents in the table, but still 11 points from escaping the relegation zone.

There was a bit of movement around the top of the First Division once the final whistles blew, and although Whitchurch Alport remain at the top, their long unbeaten away record came to an end at Chadderton, whose 3-0 win was achieved thanks to three goals in the last 15 minutes from Lewis Lacy, Liam Ellis and Samuel Gibson.

Litherland REMYCA leapfrogged over City of Liverpool FC into second place with a 4-2 win over the Purples at the Delta Taxis Stadium.

Two early goals from Remy's Colin Quirk were cancelled out by Tom Peterson and David Forbes before the break, but second half goals from Niall Ganton and Christopher Lowe ensured the points headed a mile down the road.

Charnock Richard dropped to fourth place after being to a 2-2 draw at home by Stockport Town.  Daryll Grant rescued a point for the visitors with an 87th equaliser.

Alsager Town remain in fifth place after a 4-2 victory at home to Daisy Hill, although the destiny of the points was only decided in the last six minutes in favour of the Bullets thanks to goals from Thomas Brown and David Walker.

Sandbach United occupy the final play-off spot after coming from behind to win 2-1 at home to Cheadle Town, courtesy of goals from Boris Melingui and Jamie Morgan in the last 15 minutes.

Widnes kept up their fine run of form with a 4-1 win at Silsden, goals from Christopher Lomax, Kevin Towey, Luke Edwards and Billy Webb moving Joey Dunn's side another step nearer to the play-off places.

FC Oswestry Town are still in touch with the top six after a good 4-0 win over Prestwich Heys at the Venue, in which Brendon Price scored twice, and Benedict Rebello also scored twice for Holker Old Boys in the  4-2 win over bottom of the table Ashton Town at Rakesmoor Lane.

Michael Slack, Jamie Heath and Bradley Hayton were on target for Carlisle City in the 3-1 win at  Bacup Borough, and a last minute winner from Nathan Dyer earned Eccleshall a vital 2-1 win at Atherton LR that narrows the gap between the sides in the relegation zone to five points, with Eccleshall having two games in hand.
