The FA has announced that a total of 68 clubs have applied for promotion from Step 5 to Step 4 leagues, in the event that the club finishes in a promotion position at the end of the season.
As announced previously, seven clubs from our League all expressed an interest to the Football Association before the November 30th deadline, a figure beaten only by the Spartan South Midland League, who have had eight clubs applying.
In our neighbouring leagues in the North, five clubs from the Northern Counties East League applied, all of whom currently occupy the top five positions in their Premier League - Bridlington Town, Cleethorpes Town, Handsworth Parramore, Pickering Town Community and Thackley.
Two clubs from the Northern League applied, the lowest number of any league in the country. The current league leaders North Shields did not apply, but South Shields (currently 2nd) and Bishop Auckland (currently 6th) did.
