There were goals galore and some standout results from the FA Cup and games in both divisions at the weekend.

In the Emirates F.A Cup 1st Qualifying Round, Ashton Athletic take top billing after a fantastic 7-2 thrashing of Evo-Stik League Mossley at Brocstedes Park, in which Adam Gilchrist scored a hat trick.

The result sees the Yellows in the next round for the first time in their history, and they will be joined in the draw by Winsford United, who came from two down to eventually draw 3-3 at Whitby Town, Kyle Riley scoring twice for the Blues.

The replay is on Monday evening at Winsford.

However, three clubs exited the competition - Maine Road lost 4-3 at Burscough, Squires Gate fell 5-2 at home to Handsworth Paramore, and although Cheadle Town did take the lead at Trafford, they eventually lost 5-2 at Shawe View.

In the Premier Division, Bootle are top of the table after a 3-2 home win over Congleton Town, with Ryan Cox scoring twice for the Bucks. Tucked in behind in second place are Runcorn Town, with Kevin Exell scoring the only goal of the game for Town at New Mills.

Irlam drop to third after their 6-0 home defeat to West Didsbury & Chorlton on Friday night, and they now are a point ahead of four clubs - one of them being West.

The others are Atherton Collieries, who romped into a three goal lead at Hanley Town after just 17 minutes, eventually winning 4-1, and Barnoldswick Town and 1874 Northwich, who shared a 2-2 draw at the Silentnight Stadium. The Greens were two up after 31 minutes, but two goals from Aaron Hollindrake salvaged a point for Barlick.

Two goals from Mark Houghton helped Runcorn Linnets to a 4-2 win over Padiham, and goals in the last two minutes from Niko Collins and Omar McKenzie sealed a 2-0 win for Abbey Hey at Cammell Laird 1907, who now drop to bottom place. Lairds took over bottom spot from Nelson who earned a welcome first win of the season beating Barnton 4-0, the highlight of which was a hat trick by Zack Dale.

AFC Darwen remain second bottom after a 2-2 draw at home to AFC Liverpool, although it took a last minute equaliser from Ryan McKenna to salvage a point, with two goals from Matthew Williams having given the Reds a lead.

In Division One, three points separate the top six, with Alsager Town on top courtesy of having a superior goal difference to Charnock Richard.

Michael Lennon gave Alsager Town an early lead at home to Holker Old Boys, but Craig Redhead's equaliser on 31 minutes earned the Stags a 1-1 draw.

Two goals from Carl Grimshaw helped Charnock Richard to a 3-0 home win over Chadderton, and although the in-form Daley Woods put City of Liverpool ahead at Daisy Hill, goals from Matthew Knowles and Alex McPolin sent the Purples tumbling to a 2-1 defeat, their first of the season.

They are now level on points with Litherland REMYCA who won 3-0 at Bacup Borough, Colin McDonald scoring twice.

Whitchurch Alport are fifth after coming from behind to win 3-1 at home to Carlisle City, and two goals from Michael Itela helped Prestwich Heys to a 5-2 win over Eccleshall that moves them into sixth place.

It is impossible to sum up a result like FC Oswestry Town 6 Silsden 6 in a few words, suffice to say that after leading 4-1, Oswestry conceded four goals in 12 minutes and a red card to go 6-4 down, and then scored two goals with ten men in the 90th and 95th minute to earn a point. Oh, and three of the twelve goals were own goals.

An own goal also opened the scoring for Atherton LR in their 4-2 win at home to St Helens Town, and Nathan Neequaye scored twice in Stockport Town's 3-1 win over AFC Blackpool at Stockport Sports Village.
